Christos Voskres'!
Today is the 20th anniversary of my grandmother's passing. She was a very devout woman, an amazing combination of patience, creativity, and love, who did more for me than I can here recount.
She died at the young age of 55 a few short weeks after undergoing hip replacement surgery. Though I was only ten years old at the time, I remember exactly where I was at the time I found out: I was walking home from school, and, as I approached the front lawn of my house, I looked up to see my mother and other grandmother standing in the doorway. I knew at that very moment, without anyone saying a word, that she was dead.
Please pray that Christ, our true God, Who rules over the living and the dead, place the soul of His departed servant Helen in the abode of the Saints, granting her rest in the bosom of Abraham and numbering her among the Just, through the prayers of His most pure Mother, the Holy Theotokos; of the holy, glorious, and praiseworthy Apostles; of our venerable and God-bearing Fathers; of Christ's holy and righteous friend, Lazarus, four days entombed; and of all the Saints.
May her memory be eternal! Christ is Risen!
