Please pray for the repose of the soul of my Aunt O'Lena Cox, who is expected to fall asleep in the Lord this day after almost 87 years. Immediate family are gathering in Mount Airy, North Carolina where the funeral will take place, probably next Monday or Tuesday. I travel tomorrow. My Dad becomes the last of 8 brothers and sisters alive, but is 85, and is too frail to make the trip from Florida with my stepmother. It breaks his heart not to go, and I am now travelling in his stead. My aunt's family also happened to be the closest to me as I grew up much of the time at her house. My aunt will be buried beside her husband who died back in the 1960s at only 49. Vichnaja pamjat!

Dear Jim, +May HE bless you and comfort you! I will serve the Holy Liturgy today (Friday/Jan. 30th) in honor of the Three Holy Hierarchs and will often it for the repose of your dear Aunt O'Lena. May God forgive her all her sins and may He remember her forever and place her in Paradise among the angels and Saints!

Lord, grant eternal rest to the soul of Jim's Aunt O'Lena Cox!

And strength and peace to the grieving younger brother, her last surviving sibling and Jim's father.

May God grant peace to his daughter and servant. May her surviving family find peace and even in sorrow find joy in her repose from the trials of this life. Eternal Memory.

Thank you all for your prayers. My aunt revived after them. I was able to be with her a couple of days before she died peacefully yesterday, and she was aware of your prayers. She also knew who I was, until Monday when she lapsed into a coma. Her funeral is tomorrow at 11 a.m. EST. She wasn't orthodox or catholic, but she received baptism Sunday- her first and only one, which was especially important to her daughters. I know that God will regard well her intentions, and I intend to request a 40th day panahida at our parish for Sunday March 14th. Thank you again for your prayers and support.

Jim:

May your aunt rest in peace and may the angels lead her into Paradise.

May He also comfort you. It is a tremendous gift to have a close relationship like you have had with your aunt when so many people grow up without close extended family ties.

What a comfort to know that she received Holy Baptism just before her death since she had not received it before. What a gift to enter the Mansions of the Just with pristine Baptismal grace covering the soul!! Be in awe, as I am, at the wonderful mercy of God!!

In Christ,

BOB
