Dear LT:

If it is not too late, hear me on THIS one!

I will never go, and have not gone, to any service department of ANY car dealership because I know for a fact that they will skin you alive! Forget their jingle about having the right trained mechanics.

Ditto for BIG service shops attached to auto parts dealers. They will find a way to aggravate the situaiton (for more parts and labor)!

Stick to your neigborhood mechanic (befriend him!) He will do only what is necessary because you ARE his neighbor (and you know personally his wife, his kids, and mother-in-law! biggrin )

You should know WHAT is wrong with your car and limit the repair/maintenance of that specific problem.

I am blessed with such friendly (and truthful)mechanics (both with ASE ratings) in a gasoline station 3 blocks from home. One an Asian and the other a Mexican, both immigrants!

Why gasoline stations? Because they cater to customers in a HURRY: no flims-flams allowed! Normally, even MAJOR repairs takes a few hours, most of it waiting for the rightly ordered part/parts.

At any rate, my prayers are with yours for a safe journey to St. Louis. (Man, I "hate" those Cardinals! wink Good, Pujols is out for a while!)

Amado
(Go Cubs! already!)
