Dear in Christ,

Would you please pray for a very young baby named Ryan? He's maybe 3 weeks old or so. Half his diaphragm is paralyzed, which has allowed his liver to crowd one lung. He is in ICU in one of the finest children's hospitals in the world, on oxygen, while the docs try to decide what to do next.

He has two older siblings. His mom is pumping milk for him because nursing is too tiring. Dad is out of the country (they were in the process of moving when Ryan was born) and will likely return very soon.

I know the mom from cyber-space, but I met her in person last summer during the same trip to Toronto when I met Alex. I made her a baby sling out of a silly airplane fabric, because her husband is a pilot. God grant that Ryan gets the chance to ride around in it 'til it's plumb worn out!

Please turn the prayer machine to "overdrive."

Thanks,

Sharon

Prayers for this wee one Sharon - and I will make the usual offer - if you would please relay it to his Mom.

Our Postal system is working once more so a wee padded envelope can be put in the post quite easily.

May the Mother of Jesus intercede for Ryan. May He grant the doctors determine a successful approach to treatment and guide them as they follow them. May He grant health and long life to mother, father, and family.

Sweetest Jesus, as I know you healed Elenors grandbaby in its mothers womb, please give the doctors wisdom to know what to do for this baby.

May the Infant of Prauge pray for her.

Last update was yesterday I think- they were going to do some fluoroscopy to assess further. Situation is largely unchanged. My friend is struggling to maintain her milk supply, pumping every two hours. Fortunately a medication that helps increase milk supply which is not easily obtainable in the US is widely available in Canada.

Keep them prayers a'comin for Ryan and his family.

Thanks,

Sharon

Ryan had surgery Saturday. Several scary moments, and they ended up having to take the more invasive route, but early indications are that it was successful. He's still a very sick little (13 lbs) guy, and will be at Sick Kids for another month or so, but he should be able to **BREATHE** now!!!! (Prior to surgery his right lung was down to about 10%.)

Still some tough times ahead, but one huge hurdle overcome. They will be able to attempt to resume breastfeeding in a couple weeks - asking Our Lady of La Leche's intercession on that!

Keep them prayers a'comin'!

May the Lord continue His healing work with Ryan and his mother. May He sustain them and guard them from harm.

Let us know how he progresses when you can, if you would, Sharon. thanks for the updates.

Just got word.

Baby Ryan is HOME!!!!!!

Confounding medical predictions, he made a remarkably rapid recovery from surgery, and also went back to nursing as if it had never been interrupted.

He'll need follow-up to be sure that all is well and the diaphragm is remaining where they surgically put it, but as of now he can breathe just fine, and is getting on woth the business of being a baby.

All glory to God, and thank you for all your prayers.

Sharon
