May the Lord guide the surgeon's hands and provide a quick recovery.

I want to thank everyone for their prayers.
I thought I would give you all an update as to how things went.
We got up at 4 am Friday morning so that we could have him at the VA Hospital in Buffalo by 6:30 am.
He checked in and went to pre-op at 7:15 am.
Surgery was to start at 8 am, found out afterwards that they were runing late and didn't start until 8:30 am.
We were told that if they only fixed one of his hernias it would take an hour, a bit longer if they fixed both, and a bit more longer if they inserted the mesh.
Doctor came out to visit with us, myself and my mother, at about 11 am. Saying that the hour estimate we were given was way off.
They gave my father a spinal block but he still seemed in some discomfort so they then had to knock him out all the way.
Because they took care of both herinas they kept him over night, we left him at about 1:30 pm. He had his lunch sitting in front of him and was eating his ice cream, he was still sort of out of it.
We went to pick him up today. A bit of a wait but we had him home by 2 pm or so. He is in some discomfort but he is doing well.
Thanks again.

George, We remembered your dad today at the Holy Altar and at Proskomedia too. I'm glad everything went well. You may have to help your dad for a while...he will have a good deal of discomfort for a couple weeks. I had one hernia done several years ago and it was three weeks before I could get around normally. We will pray for a more speedy recovery for your father!
In Christ Jesus Our Lord, +Father Archimandrite Gregory
