Dear Andrew,

So the moral of your post is that you, ahead of anyone else, should have remembered who the patron saint of sore throats is? smile

Alex,

Of course Saint Roch is the patron against pestilence and pestilential diseases, who would argue that? He is a favorite among the Irish (who aren't always inclined to become devoted to saints not their own)

Many years,

Neil

Dear Alex,

Save this one: "Yes, and I repent."

Brothers and sisters:

Glory be to Jesus Christ!! glory be to Him forever and ever!!!

Thank God again and again for your generosity in praying for Loretta and for all those who have been touched by this year's flu, whether in their families or within their circle fo friends. Thanks to each of you, too.

This flu has held onto Loretta now for four and a half weeks. The cough just will not go away. Loretta's been back to work, but each day takes about everything she builds up overnight out of her. Today she has started with a second sinus infection--sadly, that is what she had the second day (November 6). I hope that this is not a relapse.

So, I'm asking you to keep up your fervent prayers and include all those who have been hit by this thing this year.

Lord Jesus, we your servants ask You to heal all our brothers and sisters suffering from the flu this year. Through the prayers of Your Most Pure Mother, O Lord, save us who call on You for mercy. AMEN.

In Christ,

BOB

P. S.: Alex--yes, it is my understanding that the flu strain is the same as that of 1917-1918. In addition, the information I get from my medical contacts is that whatever is needed to keep one away from it is not contained in this year's flu vaccine. So we could have had our flu shot and still become very ill from this particular virus. So far, by the Grace of God, I have not been affected.

Heavenly Father, physician of our souls and bodies, Who have sent Your only-begotten Son and our Lord Jesus Christ to heal every sickness and infirmity, visit and heal also Your servant Loretta from all physical and spiritual ailments through the grace of Your Christ.

Grant her patience in this sickness, strength of body and spirit, and recovery of health.

Lord, You have taught us through Your word to pray for each other that we may be healed. I pray, heal Your servant Loretta and grant to her the gift of complete health.

For You are the source of healing and to You do we give glory, + Father, Son and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Glory be to Jesus Christ!! Glory be to Him forever and ever!!!

Thanking God for each of you and for your generous response to my request for prayers, I have to report that Loretta is coming out of her bout with the flu--it's only been about 6 1/2 weeks, but who's counting!?!?

Continuing to pray for all those others in its grip.

In Christ,

BOB

A few days ago I printed up a numbered prayer request sheet, put it inside a see through plastic bag, then placed it at the grave of Chicago's "Miracle Child" Mary Alice Quinn, who was investigated for Sainthood in the 1940's. Visitors come to pray at the grave on a daily basis. Loretta's name is on the list. So hopefully, people we don't even know of, have prayed for her.

Brothers and sisters:

I am almost embarrassed to come back to you for prayer after yesterday. But when I came home today there was Loretta: chills, high fever, and all the nastiness of this flu back in full force. I've put her to bed and called her in sick for the rest of the week.

Yes, Lord, You're still in charge!! Help my love, please.

In Christ,

BOB

P.S.: My continued prayers for all of the young, the old, orphans and widows, the sick and the suffering, the sorrowing and the afflicted, all captives and the needy poor, all those who are in the process of dying and for their families who will sorrow this Christmas.

Lord, You know full well the human condition with its ups and downs. Help us who are in our pilgrimmage never to lose hope in You or the remembrance of the fantastic love You bear for each of us, especially in this season when we remember Your Birth among us. AMEN.

Mad prayers for Loretta.

God, deign to bless Loretta and Bob through the intercessions of the most-holy Theotokos and ever-virgin Mary.
