Dear John Patrick Poland,
As someone with a doctorate who studied Pelagianism in depth in university, I assure you that I have already done my "due diligence" in this respect.
The people at the website I gave are also quite vociferous in condemning Pelagianism. You may have confused them with other "Celtic Churches" in the U.S. (what don't you have in the Grand Republic?) who have canonized Pelagius as "St Morgan of Wales." That website strenuously opposes any such thing.
They also condemn New Age in a way that would make most liberal North American Catholics blush.
I know all about how New Age has infected Catholicism and a friend of mine who teaches at a private Catholic high school even took me into their chapel to show me how Catholic teachers are imparting new age practices to their students.
I have NEVER recommended you join that group I mentioned - that is simply nastiness on your part for which I believe I deserve a retraction from you and/or an apology if you can quite manage that.
Until such time, have a great life.
Alex

Uh, Alex, he is new and meant no harm; don't start out on a bad foot with a new poster [remember our past unpleasantness, long ago, before we recognized one another's brilliance?] -Daniel, wondering if you aren't being a little thin-skinned

Dear Daniel,
Well, it was John Patrick who accused me of trying to get him to join a "pagan/new age" group. And then he went on to lecture about how Pelagianism is a heresy . . .
He may be new to the Forum. I doubt if he's new to the basic courtesies of social discourse.
So far, his manner here really stinks!
Ciao,
Alex

It might be time to close this thread down as it has gone all over the place.

I love the Byzantine Catholic Church and have been welcomed by all the members of the four parishes I have visited/attended.
The most memorable though, was at St. Athanasius BCC in Indianapolis. Father Sid and his congregation are so warm and loving. In our very short visit, they truly made my family feel like family!
In Christ,
Michael

I love Father Sid!
I attended a few Divine liturgies there over my Christmas break. I also bought some delicious Poppy seed and Pumpkin Rolls from them. They are a wonderful community.

I've heard the word "our people" used many times in my life. I've heard this from my Carpathian family. Our people never trully had their own country, never had a distinct border that they could use to define who is "our people" and who isn't. You'll find that while we know what makes us one of "our people" we accept everyone as "our people." It may seem that we are all about the Kolachky and Pirohi, but we really are about each other and being surrounded by "our people" no matter if they have a Ukrainian last name or a Norweigan last name. I hope this makes sense.

No sense at all Sounds very deep and profound. Has a lot of the up and down, side by side, yet back to back qualities, with round about and definately sort of about it. Just goes to prove we must be all over the place and related to various lost tribes (who knew where they were all along) and have a homeland so nice everyone else like to live there but us. ICXC NIKA

Dear Pyrohy,
Well, the OCA Canadian Metropolitan Seraphim is of Norwegian background and I like him very much!
He even spells the capital of Ukraine as "Kyiv" and her enlightener as "Volodymyr."
Not everyone does THAT, you know . . .

Dear John Poland, O.K., O.K. - please accept my apologies for the above reference! I am a bad person, period. I deserve to be taken out and beaten about the calves and ankles. Please forgive me and just rule me out of order. And I reject Pelagianism and paganism and all their errors from now on! Alex

Alex: I consider the matter to be water on a duck's back. You can slap me with a wet noodle if needs be. I sincerely apologize to any and all whom I may have offended. Jesus settled more than one dispute among the apostles. See, Matthew, 20:20-28; Luke 9:46-48. I always picture the apostles as an unruly bunch. Jesus was probably like the coach of my high school football team - he had to break up more than one fight between teammates. For everyone participating in The Byzantine Forum, here is today's reflection from www.littleflower.org: [ littleflower.org] "Seek true peace, not upon earth, but in heaven; not in men, nor in other things created, but in God alone." St. Therese, the Little Flower, helped me immensely in 1999 when I was 45 years old and stuck in the hospital for three months with a virus that had settled in my heart. It gave me time to learn about her, and her Little Way. When I saw an Icon of the Little Flower and learned that she is the Patron Saint of St. Therese of Lisieux Byzantine Catholic Church in St. Petersburg, FL, I knew that I was headed in the right direction by going to the St. Louis Byzantine Catholic Mission. Always remember that Jesus loves you very much, JP

I for one hope you will continue to have input to this forum. Strong views are important and quiet few here have a few of those on many topics. I suppose we share our information learn about things of interest to us as people interested in the Byzantine world/Church. I have learnt quiet a lot (even about me) and made new friends by being here. We all come with our pasts and that includes our ethnicities and our experiences of life, our history in short. We all have them, if we are prepared to continue with the learning process we share and learn as we interact here. So dont go.

John, Please stay and continue to contribute. If I quit the first time I had a minor tiff with Andrew I wouldn't have lasted very long. Also, if you don't continue, I will continue to evade you as to when my family and I are coming up for Divine Liturgy at the Byzantine Mission in St. Louis! Plus I don't want to be the only "St. Louisan" on the Forum. C'mon were paisani! Irish Cousins!!!
