I am presently working on a really long essay which I hope to publish in an Orthodox magazine sometime.
In a nutshell, I was born to a mother with Dutch Reformed roots, a father with Southern roots (his parents were unchurched, but his other relatives are mostly Baptist), and they baptized me an Evangelical Lutheran. I became a Roman Catholic at age 17, after studying the reformation and it's slogans of scripture alone and faith alone, convinced in my heart I could no longer be a Protestant. All was well, and then I had a personal crisis in 1999. I met a saintly Orthodox priest, who I swear saved my life, and I am a Greek Orthodox Christian as of 1/19/01. I still deeply love and admire Catholicism, but I came to disagree with the papacy and other things.
My parents have a deep appreciation of my faith, and they often attend liturgy with me. They are still Lutheran.
