Last Sunday, November 17th, very important historical event took place in the life of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in the USA. Major Archbishop-Patriarch Lubomyr Husar made a pastoral visit to Philadelphia Archeparchy. Cardinal Husar was the main celebrant and homilist at the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, which was celebrated in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Philadelphia.
After the Divine Liturgy, almost two thousand faithful who attended the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy were able to personally greet Cardinal Lubomyr Husar.

Who's this Cardinal Husar? I thought that the head of the Ukrainian Catholic Church was just called Patriarch Lubomyr? ;-)

Did anybody go to the Holy Liturgy on November 17th? What was it like? Who was there? What did the Patriarch say? Any pictures?

I can't supply you with pictures from the Patriarch's visit to Philadelphia, but the weekend prior he was in Parma, Ohio. He had a very full schedule, starting Saturday morning with a visit to Ukrainian School, then to St. Andrew Ukrainian Catholic Church where he celebrated Divine Liturgy (giving a sermon in both English and Ukrainian); at 4:45 pm he had Moleben at Pokrova, and Sunday morning Divine Liturgy at St. Josaphat Cathedral with a banquet following. To see pictures of the Patriarch at Ukrainian School, go to www.ridnashkola-cl1.org [ridnashkola-cl1.org] and click on the "Visit" link. The Patriarch spoke to the children, giving them a wonderful talk on being kind to each other and using St. Nicholas as his example. You could have heard a pin drop in the room.

Oh, and in addition, he brought the Ukrainian Orthodox Archbishop Vsevolod with him for the entire visit. Pretty cool.

Thanks! Great to see Vladyko Robert out and about wearing his kobluk, and even Fr. Andrij in a riassa (progress!). On the other hand, it must have been a long morning - great last photo capturing Fr. Andrij checking his watch!

Ah, the sights of home . . .

Andrij (not the one in the picture!)
