In the Byzantine rite, are homosexuals allowed to become priests, provided they remain celibate? if the ruling from the Vatican goes through taht bans homosexuals from priesthood will the Byzantine church follow this as well?

Here is a discussion that we have had on the subject earlier this week on another part of the forum, hopefully it will help.

I read that but it really doesn't help, it's simply a discussion about the pope's decision and what not. I already have my own opinion of the ruling, I just want to know if the Byzantine rite will follow the pope's declaration and bar homosexuals as well.

Dear Huntress,

Byzantine Catholic Churches follow the directives given by Rome in matters such as this. Someone probably can explain better the discipline in which this applies with all sui juris churches. Opinion or not, that would be the law.

In IC XC,
Father Anthony+

Everyone baptized into Christ should pass progressively through all the stages of Christ's own life, for in baptism he receives the power so to progress, and through the commandments he can discover and learn how to accomplish such progression. - Saint Gregory of Sinai

thanks, that was my only question. I realize my opinion, or really anyone's for that matter, doesn't make a difference as far as the law is concerned, but I didn't know exactly what matters the Byzantine church had to follow the Roman church in.
