I doubt that this Bible study is being held during open hours. We also don't know that the waitresses are "scantily clad" during the Bible studies.

I don't know that I could be involved in such a Bible study, but a women's Bible study, directed at these women? Who knows how God might work. I also disagree about taking a stand against the immorality.

Jesus ate with publicans and sinners, associated with prostitutes, etc - without ever condoning their sin.

Yes, the Bible study was held during regular hours, with the servers in in their usual scant uniforms. This is evident from the news story and video.

From the canons: "A clergyman shall not enter a tavern."

Now, we must understand that in that day, a "tavern" was both a place to drink and eat (notice that I put "drink" first) and a place to obtain a prostitute. It would usually have rooms upstairs, etc. etc.

Lest any clergyman say that that he only was there for a bowl of soup, the Church, in her wisdom bans the clergy from entering such establishments of ill repute.

Remember that the appearance of scandal can do as much damage as scandal itself.

Hooters is at best, from what I've been told, a place for men to ogle scantily-clad teen girls and have a beer and a sandwich at the same time. But I'm sure that it is also used as a pick-up spot. And now how far are we from the definition of a "tavern?"

In Christ who requires humility and modesty from His flock,
Andrew
