The New York Times had reported in its March 19 edition that some Imax theaters and some science museums have banned any mention of Evolution and Big Bang theories because they are contradictory to Biblical references.

Any thoughts on this?

I recently observed a program on EWTN by four of the top scientists, something like Science Proves the Existance of God. They say they have definatly proven God's existance and creation. I guess the one guy is not only a top scientist but also a staunch athiest. His life has been changed. It was very dry definately a scientific peace, but still interesing.

Okay, I'll nibble...

...I have no personal aversion to reasonable discussion of evolution or any other scientific theory as to the birth of the universe or life on planet earth.

I believe that God created the universe. I also believe that we feeble-minded humans don't have a full inventory of Creation - we find new species every day, after all - and somehow all of our scientific theories have big holes in them. We can only ever glimpse tiny aspects of the whole picture. Even our best theories aren't based on much - but to me, they are still interesting to hear about.

I somehow think that God would not have made us so curious - and would not have made us in His own image - if He had not intended that we would try to guess about the original of all life as we know it.

This is just ridiculous! Do even science museums have to fear the wrath of the Evangelical Protestant now?

There is nothing at all wrong with the Big Bang Theory or Evolution being discussed in a science museum!

We don't know if they're right or not, but I agree with Annie, we're curious and we're going to try to find the answers, no matter what.

Personally, I don't see how Science contradicts Faith, mainly because I don't take a literal interpretation of Scripture on such matters (nor does the Church on such matters). I'm frankly tired of the Religious Right when it comes to some of this stuff. They're great allies on Pro-Life and Pro-Family issues, but that's about where it ends. We all know that given the chance, the Protestants would probably kick all the Catholics and Orthodox out of this country anyway.

Whoah. Sorry about that rant.

I would agree that the Protestants are not our true friends - never were, never will be. I believe in change through time, but the amount of change we are asked to believe from some quarters is speculation that can't be verified. There's nothing wrong with looking for answers, but it seems that every theory so far, has had a few holes in it. I think the essense of it all is, "in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." I wonder if God is amused at our attempts to figure it all out?

I used to argue with people about the pros and cons of evolution v. creation science. Being an Irishman, it did not matter which side I was on; I just liked to argue. Now I don't worry about the subject. I accept the fact that this is a mystery the answer to which the Holy Spirit will reveal to us at the appropriate time.

Hi J P, that is pretty much how I feel, I know God is responsible for all creation, how He chose to do it is His business. Yes, everyone is naturally curious and would like to know but that will be in God`s time and method to reveal to us.
