I hear from an OCA friend of mine that Metropolitan Theodosius of the OCA is back in full form and service to his people. He served Divine Liturgy at the OCA church in Moscow, visited the Orthodox Church in Finland, and is now back to serving God's people at the Sobor in Washington.
Just wanted to let folks know that a good man is back in service to God's people. It's a cause for thanksgiving.
To my OCA friends, I (and lots of us non-Orthodox) are very happy to learn that your Metropolitan is back in the saddle and able to resume his responsibilities towards God's people.
May the Lord bless him and his work in service to God's people.
Blessings!

OK, this is what I get for missing staff meetings...
What happened to The Most Blessed Theodosius that he was out of action, as your post described?
Thanks in advance...

Hey, ND. Happy New Year to you.
Metropolitan Theodosius evidently was severely overworked and his physicians recommended (demanded?) that he stop all his activities and take some time for rest and rejuvenation. He came to the Sobor and asked for (and was granted) a 6 month sabbatical from his duties.
He only recently resumed his duties.
(Say what one will, but I think that this is why God has granted us Presbyteras for our priests: they can tell 'em things that they wouldn't hear from anyone else including the bishop. Well....OK.... the babas can do the same thing. It's their canonical right. They can tell the priest: "You look like hell; take a vacation." And NO priest in his right mind would ignore their judgement. Too bad the bishops don't have presbyteras. But -- by God's grace -- the babas are there! OY! Such a family! God bless the babas in the Church. Without them, we'd be in a right mess!)
Blessings for the New Year to all!

Christ is Born! Glorify Him!
His Beatitude, Metropolitan Theodosius'leave of absence came as a result of tests last spring which indicated that His Beatitude had suffered a series of minor strokes. His physicians had recommended a medical leave in order to reduce the chances of a major stroke. He returned back to full time ministry after the physicians for the Metropolitan report that they were "more than satisfied" with his condition and are confident that he is in no danger at this time.
Your brother in Christ, Thomas

He is Bishop Robert (Moskal's) cousin, or something like that.

Are you sure? I also thought it was Carneige, but I could be wrong.

Yes, His Beatitude & I have chatted about his Canonsburg upbringing, and I know some of his cousins there too. He is a cousin to Bishop Robert (a Carnegie native) through the Moskal line (who are from the village Volja Michova as are the Lazors).

Oy! A geneaology lesson! (That's OK).
I was just expressing my gratitude that the hierarch of a goodly number of my friends was up and about again, in good health.
But, hey, that's OK. When I met him a few years ago at the Sobor festival in DC, he was very gracious even after learning that we two visitors were (EEEEEKKK!) Byzantine Catholics. It's nice to know that such a wonderful man is head of the OCA. Many Years to Metropolitan Theodosius! And to his faithful!!!
Blessings!

I wish I could meet him. He seems like a nice guy. Does he speak Russian or Ukrainian or neither or both?
