A new young trainee monk was sent to a Monastery where they did everything the old way including copying the old texts by hand. He noticed however that they were copying from copies, and not the original manuscripts. So, since it was his first day, Thomas went to the Abbot to ask him about this, pointing out that if there was a mistake in the first copy, that mistake would be continued in all the following copies. The Abbot said "We have been copying from the copies for centuries, but you make a good point Brother Thomas. So he went down into the cellar with one of the copies to check it against the original. Hours passed and nobody saw him. So, Thomas went downstairs to look for him. Hearing weeping coming from the back of the cellar, he found the old Abbot leaning over one of the orginal manuscripts, sobbing his heart out. Brother Thomas asked the Abbot what was wrong and in a broken voice came the reply:
"The word is celebrate"

Alice, no need to worry about my sense of humour. I've got the tpyical "Monty Python" and Irish sense all rolled into one. Perhaps this joke would have been more appreciated on the Latin CA Forum. Brad

Dear Brad, It is a cute joke, and I think that it is appreciated here, it is just that, for some reason, I didn't get it at first. You Irish have GREAT personalities, charisma and humor...keep gracing us with it, please! Alice

And when did the Latin CA Forum develop a sense of humor? I thought they had it surgically removed.

"It" was surgically re-attached when certain enterprising Easterners (with an assist from conspiring Latins [ahem]) got an "Eastern Christianity" subforum "independent" from the non-Catholic main forum and going! And going progressively strong, lively, and with a healthy sense of humor! Just ask CD Lauffer, Neil, Michael, Pani Rose, Al, and others! Amado
