In the langauge of his mother's family:

Vichnaja Pamjat'. Vichnaja Pamjat'. Blazhennyj pokoj; vichanja pamjat'-Christos Voskres!

May God grant John Paul II, a blessed repose, in the bosom Abraham. In a place where there is no pain, sorrow or mourning, but only life-everlasting!

You will be greatly missed! frown

We have lost an absolutely outstanding
one-of-a kind Pope.
The world is not the same now that he is gone.
Rest with the Saints dear John Paul.

I hope some of the Metropolitans, Major Archbishops and Patriarchs of the Eastern Catholic
Churches will have the opportunity to hold a "Panachida" for the repose of +Pope John Paul II. John Paul II was definitely devouted to restoring the traditions of each Eastern Particular Church as well as working to restore Communion with Orthodoxy.

Vichnaja Jemu Pamjat', Christos Voskres!

I remember quite clearly that some Eastern Catholic offices were celebrated as part of the official funeral services for both Pope PAUL VI, and Pope JOHN PAUL I. I can't quite sure exactly which ones, but I am thinking that one of them was Panachita, celebrated by the Melkites.

Memory Eternal to all three Popes of Rome.
Christ is Risen!

With both Patriarchs Lubomyr and Gregory in Rome, you can bet there will be a Panakhida in Rome.

So svyatimij upokoi, Christe, vichanaja pamjat.

Where can we Eastern Catholics even start to thank God for the gift of His servant, Pope John Paul II? Orientale Lumen, Slavorum Apostoli, Ut Unum Sint, - he loved his Eastern children. And we loved him. Blessed Repose and Eternal Memory to John Paul the Great.

Hopefully, one of the Masses celebrated during the prescribed days of mourning will be a Divine Liturgy. Knowing how very much Pope John Paul loved the Eastern Church, don't be surprised if we see Patriarch Lubomyr at the main altar of St. Peter's Basilica.

Who is the Eastern Bishop that was so evident at the altar yesterday in Rome?

Glory to God in the Highest for having sent JPII to this earth to guide us towards our Maker, our Creator, and Friend. Thank you JESUS for this mans life that he touched all of us so very much.

Pani Rose, CHRIST IS RISEN! His Beatitude Mar Ignace Moussa I DAOUD, Syriac Patriarch of Antioch concelebrated yesterday at the holy altar with Cardinal Sadano.

Hope that answers your question.

In His Holy Name,
+Fr. Gregory

Since his mother was Greek Catholic, it would indeed be nice if those Eastern bishops and Patriarchs hold an Eastern service while his body lays instate at St. Peters Basillica.
