Hello, Here's an excerpt from the article linked below - NOTE: I suspect that the pill discussed is also abortifacient: If a new brand of birth control gets approved early next year, that time of the month could become the time of, like, the decade. Lybrel, a birth-control pill made by Wyeth, would be the first oral contraceptive to deliver an uninterrupted supply of hormones. Seventy percent of women who took it for six months were period-free, according to a preliminary study by the company. Maybe sales would be better with a particular faction were the name changed from "Lybrel" to Liberal." Girl Talk: A new pill that stops your period. [slate.com] Irenaeus

How much higher is a woman's risk of cancer for ingesting this new drug?

Girl Talk: A new pill that stops your period. [slate.com] Irenaeus Wow, that's creepifying. I was really astonished to learn that the bleeding that occurs during use of the current "pill" is actually just there to perform a mind trick--to make women "feel like women." I guess Wyeth has decided that women don't really care about such trivial things anymore. Chalk one up for the fem-nazi's.

This is not a new phenomenon. The current pill has been used for this purpose for many years. It is highly controversial within the medical community. Almost all doctors who prescribed it advised their patients to "allow" themselves a period between once a month to once every year. It seems that there is a connection between periods and cancer in women that has not been fully researched. This is not to mention the connection of the drugs themselves to cancer statistics. It appears to be most prominent in women who have not had a child. Oh! And it is very common in women who used the drugs for this purpose to spot bleed throughout the month, to have breakthrough ovulation, and to have full periods at random (and inconvenient) times. Not to mention the weight gain, the bloating, the increased risk of cervical cancer, the increased vaginal infections, and the multitude of other health problems associated with hormonal therapy, I really don't comprehend how some women think it it worth it.

I was told that in the 50's or 60's, there evidently was some testing done in Africa on two types of birth control "pills".
The first type was the male birth control pill. Over the course of the testing phase, several men suffered testicle shrinkage. So they scapped the testing and the development altogether. No one has really ever seen it since.
The second pill was the birth control pill for women. Over the course of the testing phase, several women actually died. So they scapped the tests, right?
No - they lowered the dosage, and now you can find it (and successive generations of it) at your local Pharmacy.
So much for women's liberation. It's been a bitter pill for women and society ever since.
