Does anyone have any information about the Las Vegas BC church fire?

the following was sent to the clergy, monastics, and religious of the Eparchy of Van Nuys on Monday, June 19:

Quote
A fire gutted the interior of Our Lady of Wisdom Church in Las Vegas in the early morning hours on Sunday, June 18, 2006. There were no injuries and seems to be no structural damage to the building... The adjustor from Church Mutual is meeting with Father Francis Vivona in Las Vegas today.
Please remember the faithful of Our Lady of Wisdom. I understand furnishings, vestments, and articles for the annual Our Lady of Mount Carmel festival were lost in the fire.

May God help them to rebuild quickly.

This is one of only two Byzantine Catholic parishes in North America (that I know of) with an Italo-Albano-Greek heritage/identity.

In Christ,
Andrew

I wish them nothing less than the best. I remember contacting them, and they were nice enough to E mail me back. I have a warm spot for these folks, guess because my two half brothers are Sicilian and we lived in a Sicilian American neighborhood in South Ozone Park, Queens, for a few years.
Much Love,
Jonn

Dear Nightwathcher John,

Are you aware that the other parish of similar heritage meets in Staten Island? I see that you are way down in "Chattanooooga," but perhaps your half brothers, if still in "New Yawk," would be interested.

In Christ,
Andrew

I am aware. they are in the same ecclesiastical boat as Russian Catholics, both under the rule of Latin ordinaries, and in the case of New York, his Eminence, the Cardinal Archbishop of New York, just to make an observation. unfortunately, Franky is a nominal Methodist (can you believe that he married an Italian girl who is from a METHODIST family?) Bobby was baptized a Latin, but he doesn't even remember how to make the Sign of the Cross, Latin, Eastern, whatever.they are so close, but yet so far.
Much Love,
Jonn

Yes, please keep the parishioners in your prayers. It is very sad but God provides.
