Dear Lawrence,
But a God-loving Monarch is the greatest blessing there could be, politically speaking, no?
There were many American pro-monarchists after Revolution, as one historian, Prof. Hereward Senior, has said in a book he published some years back.
I've met a number of U.S. historians over the years - they all respect the monarchy and the idea that the U.S. could have one.
St Hezekiah, St David, and St Solomon, pray for the USA today!

Personally, I think the idea of Bush being immature is a bunch of hog wash!
You prefer to have a communistic state with Kerry? God have mercy on our souls.

Dear Rose,
Did you hear the one about the man who wanted to stab his girlfriend with a screwdriver because she hated John Kerry?
Kerry heard of this and then turned to tell his wife about this man's loyalty.
He added, "Teresa, what's a screwdriver?"

Kerry doesn't care about anyone but himself. I heard this story yesterday:
Probably the best Little Johnny story ever!
John Kerry visits a primary school and sits in on one of the classes, which is in the middle of a discussion on words and their meaning.
The teacher asks Mr. Kerry if he would like to lead the discussion of the word "tragedy".
So, the illustrious leader asks the class for an example of "tragedy."
One little boy stands up and offers: "If my best friend, who lives on a farm, is playing in the field and a runaway tractor comes along and knocks him dead, that would be a tragedy.
"That's wrong," Kerry shouts. "That would be considered an accident."
A little girl raises her hand: "If a school bus carrying 50 children drove over a cliff, killing everyone inside, that would be a tragedy."
"You are completely incorrect" shouts the Senator. "That would be what we would consider a great loss".
The room goes silent. No other children volunteer. Kerry searches the room. "Isn't there someone here who can give me an example of a tragedy?"
Finally at the back of the room a small boy "little Johnny" raises his hand. In a quiet voice he says: "If a plane carrying the Senator John Kerry were struck by a missile and blown to smithereens, that would be a tragedy".
"Fantastic !" exclaims Kerry. "You are absolutely right. Can you tell me why that would be a tragedy?."
"Well," says little Johnny, "because it sure as hell wouldn't be a great loss and it probably wouldn't be an accident.

I thought that was what the Vodka was all about...after all you can't see it or taste it supposedly...so does that make one secure in thinking they aren't drinking anything?

Pani,
I like your plane story. It would not be a loss. For his treason against our men in Viet Nam he belongs in prison and certainly not in the White House. Both Kerry and Bush are American Aristocrats. Yet, Mr. Bush is not interested in killing babies and he does make decisions. I didn't know that some of our posters could tell that they are smarter than our president. Being an academic I would ask the posters who think they are to demonstrate their assertion. It isn't enough to show IQ scores even if you know what the President's and yours are. You must show your superiority in all seven cognitive areas.
Come on, you can do it. Especially if you are as smart as you claim.

Quite honestly, it saddens me that threads like these persist.
We get enough viciousness on TV these days - no matter which side you sit on, they are enough to make you want to puke.
I prefer one candidate over the other. Does that give me a license to tear down the character of the other? Apparently *legally* it's fair game. Morally? I cannot imagine that it is pleasing to God.
I pray that I will vote wisely, and that once this election is (blessedly) over, those in office (who just finished calling their opponents loathsome names and accusing them of every kind of immorality) can work together for the good of the nation.
Sorry.
Sharon
