Sharon,
I knew Fr "Joe" didn't sound right.

It should have been Abbot Leo!

Our Fr Philip does not wear a "hat", so it was very different seeing Abbot Leo with his. I think he must have said Liturgy for us many years ago (15 or more years ago), because I remember one other time we had a priest with a "hat".

It was a privilege to have him yesterday. It may have been the first time any of our children saw a monk. We are so far off the beaten path that Fr Philip says our Liturgy 99.9% of the time. There used to be a bi-ritual Jesuit in the Atlanta area, but he moved to New Orleans several years ago. He would kindly fill in when Fr Philip went out of town.

Oh, Abbot Leo also liked our weather. It was 70 degrees Saturday. He said when he left Pennsylvania to come down here it was 0 degrees!

Abbot Leo spoke of how few parents are willing to let their sons become priests/monks. I would be thrilled if my son wanted to biggrin biggrin biggrin

Brother Elias,
do you know of an e-mail address where I could write to say "Thank you" to Abbot Leo?

Dear Denise,

Unfortunately I don't think they have internet access @ Holy Trinity. In fact when I tried to call to get permission to visit the phone kept ringing and ringing with no answer. Finally I just wrote them a letter "snail mail" !

Guess it is just another of those differences between East & West. biggrin We Latin monks are wired to the hilt with e-mail, voice mail, etc. Some of our monastic officials even have to have pagers, cell phones and PDA's! eek

Oh how I long for that adoring silence the Holy Father talks about in ORIENTALE LUMEN!

Dear Br Elias

Thank you for replying. Oh well, I guess they are keeping true to the monastic life.

Our parish priest has one of those PDA's that even has the maps in it. He was going to use it while in Ireland on this current trip. He was showing it to my son, who was quite impressed (I think he was particularly impressed that a priest would have one!)
