Just a few of items of papal trivia:

During the reign of Pope John Paul II, there were four deans of the College of Cardinals. None of them was created a cardinal by him.

The first was Carlo Confalonieri, a creation of Blessed John XXIII; the next three were all creations of Paul VI: Agnelo Rossi, Bernardin Gantin, and Joseph Ratzinger.

All three successors of Pope Paul VI were created cardinals by him: Pope John Paul I, Pope John Paul II, and Pope Benedict XVI.

When Pope John Paul II, was named a bishop in 1958, he was named to a titular see which had already been suppressed: Antigon(e)a. This is verified by the issue of l`Osservatore Romano of August 31, 1958.

However, the mistake was found before his episcopal ordination and he was given the titular see of Ombi. This has never been noted in the curriculum vitae or other biographical notes provided by the Holy See.
