This is so priceless and reaches such a level of absurdity that it needs its own thread. http://www.qdomine.com/Morality%20video/LA%20Rel%20Ed%20-%202006/lareledcongress06-1.htm It was in the middle of another and a couple people commented, but it could have gotten off topic. Once again, a Prince of the Church (Cardinal Mahoney) is presiding over this. I won't even say anything else because I can't be nice about it. enjoy, mc

Now there's no question that self-worship is the ultimate goal of the novus ordo Mass. This is exactly the kind of stuff the writers of The Constitution of the Sacred Liturgy were making room for.
I'm already questioning whether I want to remain in communion with the Roman Catholic Church, and this isn't doing anything to make me reconsider.
God bless,
Karen

Hey, at least they had incense. Yeah, a large bowl/cauldron smoking big time, but what was it burning?

Yeah, a large bowl/cauldron smoking big time, but what was it burning? Probably the remains of the unborn innocents whose lives probably 90% of people in that room advocate taking... MizByz, Surprisingly, we agree one something (specifically, the nature of the Novus Ordo Mass). Logos Teen

OKOKOKOK...calm down everyone. We're talking LA, people... LA LA LAND? C-A-L-I-F-O-R-N-I-A? Granted, I've seen garbage like this elsewhere, but LA seems to be the hub. (My son asked - why's she giving the Pope a big bowl of soup? ) I think it is probably a safe bet that our German Shepherd would not cotton to this type nunsense, um er NONsense. There a new gig in town, and tutu's are out. And apart from the Tonight Show band, the swirling dirvishes with the rainbow Gospel, the dramatic production of the readings, and the ever inexplicable "tree covered in vestments" (anyone ever figure that one out?) - I saw candles, incense and men in vestments. Not to mention a deacon reading the Gospel at a traditional BEMA. (eliminate the dervish for a moment) Hey - it's a start! :p Gordo

Yeah, a large bowl/cauldron smoking big time, but what was it burning? That would definitely explain the dancing!!! I don't know about all of you, but I have a vivid image of a few people at my church dancing around and it isn't pretty! The video was just so silly. Is this what happens when you start making a few "minor" changes to the Liturgy? God help us.

It appears that some Catholics are more interested in doing and even outdoing the Protestant mega Churches. This seems as devoid of meaning as Willow-Creek or the Olsteen Football Church in Houston. It does seem to be a bit more dramatic but at least as meaningless.

Hi,
Do you people even know what you are talking about?
Do you know what this is?
Were you there?
So quick to point fingers you are!
Shalom, Memo

I doubt that "being there" would have changed my perception of how "out there" and in poor taste this nonsense really was. Gordo

Tacky yes.
Poor liturgy yes.
Interesting entertainment maybe.
Heretical no.
This was a religious education conference. A good education on what not to do at Liturgy!

I just laughed out loud. Was it me or did that beginning with the big bowl seem really pagan goddess-y?
Not even the Prod megachruches are this ridiculous.
And who claps at Mass?

It was not good liturgy even by NO standards. The gospel carried in procession was not even used. Then to have what looked like lay people proclaim the gospel with the Deacon was a definate No No. The smoking bowl reminded me of how the Aboriginal smoking ceremony has been incorporated into some Masses down here on big occasions or Masses for Aboriginal Catholics. Thing is not all the various aboriginal peoples here do this ceremony. It looks good on TV. To be fair to the NO it has rubrics to be followed and they were not in this case. The MC needs to be visited and convinced never ever to do this again. (what did I hear someone say...break his what...arm!) ICXC NIKA
