A friend and I were discussing whether a church could currently be named after Theodore Romzha.
I believe his title is 'Blessed' Theodore Romzha and he has a feast day of November 1st. But not being referred to as 'Saint' would preclude him from being the patron of a church currently. Or am I wrong.....?

whether a church could currently be named after Theodore Romzha Maybe the first move to name a church after Theodore Romzha should be within the diocese of Presov as a local "saint." Isn't this the old tradition?

Actually, it should be in the Mukachevo Eparchy and not the Prjashev Eparchy. Blessed Theodore served in the Mukachevo Eparchy.

You most certainly can dedicate a parish or mission community to a "Blessed", East or West.
In our own area, the newest Latin parish in a nearby town is dedicated to Mother Teresa of Calcutta who is not yet canonized. DRLB

Blessed Theodore served in the Mukachevo Eparchy. Correct, the Presov eparchy has three of its own Sarisan "saint" martyrs - Vasil Hopko, Pavol Gojdic and Metod Trcka - so there are plenty to go around.

Dear Friend,
Here we have a church dedicated to Blessed Margaret of "Citta del Castello" and also to Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha.
Historically, among the first forms of canonization, was the simply construction of a church in honour of a holy person.
In Ethiopia, that is still the practice today, also the Tewahedo Church will now make pronouncements on saints or martyrs it includes in its calendar.
I asked an Ethiopian priest about a saint once and he immediately referred to a listing of the many churches of Ethiopia to see if there was a church built in his honour . . .
It is frequently the case that when the ROC glorifies a saint, the building of a church in his or her honour follows soon after.
