I totally understand that this is a Byzantine Forum. However, I am hoping that some of you will be kindly willing to help me out, please. I am looking for the addresses of good, traditional (Latin Tridentine) convents and/or monasteries that are Roman Catholic. I am looking for ones that are in communion with Rome. If any of you know of any, or if you know of anyone who might, will you please be so kind as to place the addresses on this forum? I would greatly appreciate it!!! It doesn't matter to me if they are active or cloistered convents/monasteries. Just as long as they have what I am looking for.
God bless!!!

Dear Ave Maria, there is a wonderful new monastery in Eastern Oklahoma. I have visited this monastery several times. They are of the Solemnes congregation of Benedictines whose mother house is Fontgamboult in France, and thus being of the Solemnes congregation they have Gregorian chant sung by the monks in choir for all of the offices and services. The Divine Office and services are primarily sung in Latin, although the priests preach in English. Most of the monks are Americans, but there also a few French monks there as well. Within not even two years this house has nearly doubled in size with new postulants. They celebrate the Mass according to the 1962 Latin Missal and keep the strict observance of the Rule of St. Benedict (that means that women can't take meals with the monks). The monks have cattle, sheep and goats and the guest house is a wonderful log former hunting lodge. Father Bethel is the guest master. The Friends of Clear Creek Monastery have set up a website at www.clearcreekmonks.org [ clearcreekmonks.org] It is a wonderful place, but hot and very humid in the summer with lots of ticks and chiggers. There is also a community of Benedictine nuns of the congregation of Solemnes in Vermont, I don't have a website but I have their address: Monastery of the Immaculate Heart of Mary 4103 VT Route 100 Westfield, VT 05874-7701 Phone: [802] 744-6525 A traditional Benedictine priest of Fontgamboult, Father Lawrence (Brown) lives in Vermont at the convent and says Mass, hears confessions, etc. and leads offices for the nuns. There is also a discalced Carmelite convent in Valparaiso, Nebraska, which is served by priests of the Diocese of Lincoln and the Fraternity of St. Peter (whose seminary is just outside of Lincoln, Nebraska). Their address is: Carmel of Jesus, Mary and Joseph 9300 Agnew Road Valparaiso, NE 68065 There is also a wonderful Carthusian monastery in Vermont which follows the strict observance of the Carthusian Rule and uses the Carthusian Rite of Mass, but unfortunately they don't take guests or visitors. Hope that helps.

Also, I would recommend the Benedictine Abbey of Regina Laudis. The only cloistered Benedictine foundation in the US and which also celebrates the Mass and Office in Latin with Gregorian Chant http://www.abbeyofreginalaudis.com/

Dear Diak, Do you have any idea about whether the Carthusian rite of Mass was reformed in the wake of the Second Vatican Council, or is it still maintained as it was before the Council?

Dear Mor, I have a very good friend from high school who is transferring from the Charterhouse in France to the Charterhouse in Vermont soon, or he may already be there. I will ask him, but it was my understanding that they have maintained the traditional Carthusian usage.

I'm happy to see I'm not the only thing that can "bug" you . . .

My dear Anhelyna, sorry, I grew up in Oklahoma and still use the "local dialect" on occasion... Talk about off-thread... A chigger is the immature stage of a common mite found in the Midwest and southern parts of the US which bores into the skin for blood nourishment. When they are adults, they do not bite. The problem is, you can never see the little "buggers" in their immature form but they sure itch like crazy. At least with ticks you can see them to pull them off. With chiggers, you can get into a whole nest of them and don't know it until it's too late. But they don't carry Rocky Mountain spotted fever or Lyme's disease like the ticks do occasionally. This thread is leaving me "itching" for more

I hope that you all don't mind helping me locate addresses of traditional Roman Catholic Convents and/or Monasteries that are in communion with Rome, as is the original topic, please!!! There have been some good suggestions made here and I hope, and trust, that there will be many more to come. I used to be a cloistered Carmelite nun, but sent home several years ago, against my will. So, I'm counting on you all for some help too, okay!!!
Thank you to all who have helped so far!!!
God bless!!!
Pax Christi!!!
