I'd like to eventually have an incense burner for our icon corner at home. However, I'm also wondering how often burning incense will set off smoke detectors in the home ?

Sam - I have some battery powered smoke detectors and 2 hard wired ones smile

I have also some small tablets of Greek Charcoal which burn well giving off clouds of smoke at the start [ they don't like being in my covered Incense burner ] and so far I have not triggered any alarms - other than my husband coughing and rather ostentatiously shutting doors.

However IIRC - at some point Kobzar [ KO63AP ] posted a pic of an incense burner which did not use Charcoal - actually it was a good thread so here you are :-

How to burn incense the almost painless way

I hope this helps smile

Thanks, Anhelyna !

I have another question. In your reply, you use "IIRC", which I've seen frequently on this Forum. What does this mean ? I know about "BTW" and "IMHO", but have never picked up on the meaning of this "shorthand".

BTW biggrin , I love incense too, and as weird as it may sound, I "sneak sniffs" of my shirt after Divine Liturgy !!

God Bless,

Sam

Sam,

There's actually been several posts lately from folks asking for translations of what are really "chatroom lingo" (those are the venues where most of it got its beginnings). Here's a link that covers most of it:

Chatroom Lingo [computeruser.com]

(Actually, it's part of a site with several reference features on it that make it worth bookmarking.)

Many years,
