To all those under the authority of the Roman Papacy, I offer my condolences on the passing of Pope John Paul II.

Thank you. Thank you very much. I am happy that the pope is now in Heaven and that his suffering is over. But, like anyone else whom I loved and who has died, I am so sad. Thank you and bless you for your thoughtful kindness.

Turpius:

Tell me, why do you find it proper to bring up that which divides us at this time?

Hal,

I think the question is "Why did you?"

I don't understand your question. I am a Protestant who was simply offering condolences to those on this forum (Roman and Byzantine Catholics)who have lost their leader. If one of the Eastern Orthodox Patriarchs (Bartholemew, or Ignatius, for Example)had died I would have extended similar condolences to those Orthodox which happen to be members of this forum also.

I think that it would be wise, if before we post something in haste, we check to see the faith affiliation of a poster to see exactly from what position they are speaking.

I always do. Just a suggestion! smile

Having said that, I join with you in offering my condolences, Turpius, as I am not Roman Catholic either.

However, I am mourning and crying just as much as my brethren, for this Pope, as has been brought out by guest speakers and announcers, was a Pope, a most Holy Father, for people of ALL faiths!

A great saint, a very holy and humble man, walked among us, and loved us, each and every one, and I have loved him for many, many years.

May he intercede in heaven, before the God he served so well, for us all, and for the unity he desired so much.

In Christ our Lord,
Alice
