I have often remarked about a life-long "friend" that I have known since high school - and that was when the Indians were riding horses around the building biggrin - that he has all the qualities of a dog, except loyalty. biggrin I think dogs are the standard against which loyalty is measured.

Wondrful post JoeS

I think dogs were put on the earth for mankind to learn from. The dog has unconditional love for their master. Even after correction they come back and want to be loved. We should have this same unconditional love for our Master, Jesus Christ.

Thanks Bob
One of the Desert Fathers, lamenting about his own sin, made the comment that he was less than a dog in that a dog loved his master and that he, by sinning, showed that he didn't love The Master.

Now I know what to say when people start carrying on about their animals.

Perhaps if we didn't think we were so important we could be more loyal to God. We'd also be able to take correction better.

Maybe we're cat or dog people because there's a lesson to be learned about self-importance and loyalty. At least I think that's probably true in my case. It's also possible that they serve as a reminder and not a lesson.

Peace

Dear Friends,

The moral of Joe's story is that "going to the dogs" isn't such a bad thing after all! smile
