Good Afternoon, I watched Charles & Camilla's ceremony the other day and was wondering if anyone knows the translation of the Russian Orthodox song that was sung? Also, does anyone know how Charles & Camilla happened to choose that song? Wolfgang

Prince Philip was once Greek Orthodox, I believe. I don't know the translation of that song, but I read that Prince Charles visited an Orthodox (perhaps Russian) monastery for a retreat some time ago, but can't recall details.

I was very moved by that Russian singers performance. She had such a powerful voice.
I've also heard that Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh has not one ounce of Greek blood in his veins. He was a Danish Prince whom Greece inported to become a Prince in Greece.

Royal wedding does not interest me at all ...specially when someone divorce his wife and having an affair at the same time... I think that is a disgrace...
I think that relationship outside of married and cheating his wife at the same time is a total disgrace.

I think Philip was a prince of Greece. But the royal families of both England and Greece appear to be more German in ancestry than anything else.

Dear Randy, Republican presidential marriages involving infidelity don't interest me either - and for the same reasons you cite! Alex

Amen ....I just dont get it ...whats the big deal? Definetely we are not talking about a high moral royalty here. I think that they still ban Catholic for being a royalty. So if thats the case ... whats the big deal. Lets move on with other thread that has more spiritual discussions.

When I studied canon lawn (we were studying the 1917 code, now out of date), it was forbidden ever to marry someone with whom you have committed adultery. (It sounds judgemental, I suppose, but HRH told us about his adultery in a television interview, so it is hardly a private matter.)
I don't know if that canon still applies, and it certainly doesn't apply to a protestant Christian in any case, but it strikes me as a very sensible law, and sound moral principle.

I am ready to leave my computer for the day...
I just want to say... that I wish I know more about cannon law... although I dont have a theology or have taken Philosophy class...
I also know what is right and what is wrong. I am not a rightious person... I admit I committed more sins that anyone else... but, I would like to praise our Lord Jesus Christ that at least... I also know what is right and what is wrong.
This royal wedding is no way a sacred wedding if the first one was not either.

all this excitement over Pretenders.
I say, let them go home to Hanover.
And let the true monarchy of the Stuarts be restored!

By all means let us bring back the Stuarts (or their heirs, to be precise). Meanwhile my only reason for having watched part of the goings-on when young Mr. Battenberg did whatever he did with Mrs Camilla Past-Her-Best was sheer curiosity to see what Dr. Rowan Williams would do to this "blessing" service. To his credit, Dr. Williams came through with a few interesting touches. Best of all was his stressing in the pseudo-vows that the Unhappy Couple must pledge to be faithful to one another. Since it is highly public knowledge that neither of them was faithful to his or her lawful wedded spouse, I found this quite hilarious.
