Does anyone here know if this has ever been resolved? Sounds like some lingering questions persist. Father, Bless! I too applaud your Christian decorum, Father Thomas. If the OCA is where the monk feel their appropriate ecclesiastical home lies, may God bless them abundantly.

Dear Diak,
Absolutely!
The same holds for our Studites who have gone to the ROCOR.
God bless them - every one.

I hope the OCA exercises caution. It certainly looks suspicious. The behavior of the monks is not in line with the policy our bishops drafted in Dallas, even if it is their constitutional right. One must wonder if they are leaving to avoid complying with the policy.

Dear Teen Logo,
I knew that my phrase, "You Rock," would elicit a response from you . . .
And that's cool . . .
Alex Well, Alex, I was planning on posting my response before I read your post, but if it makes you feel better, your input sealed my decision. Logos Teen

Let us pray for all monastics in all 22 of our Eastern Catholic Churches.
Those who feel called to be part of restoring traditional monastic life are making history AND IT IS NOT EASY. 200 years from now, the history books will tell the story of the beginning of the seedlings in the monastic garden and they will do it in a few paragraphs. Only God knows what these monastics are going through.
May their sufferings be fruitful and bear many monastic flowers.
Our world needs their prayers and their witness to Jesus Christ!!

Dear Lemko, Why "Memory Eternal?" You remind me of Orthodox Jews who recite the funeral service over their son or daughter about to leave Judaism or marry a non-Jew . . . I understand that some Byzantine Catholics actually COME ALIVE when they join the OCA! And if I can learn to accept the defection of Studites to ROCOR . . . Twasn't easy, mind you. I had to down a lot of turkey over our Canadian thanksgiving first . . . Alex

Alex, he was saying memory eternal about the nun who was killed by the novice of that community. It was a very tragic affair. Read the story that I provided a link for earlier in this thread. Don

Bless me a sinner, Reverend Fathers in Christ!
Oh!
Kissing your right hands, I again implore your blessing,
Your humble and stupid servant,

That's an uneccesarily harsh view of Lemko's post. I think the idea is better related to the idea implicit in Lance's comment: if they are jumping jurisdictions to facilitate a cover-up, then the tragedy is compounded by all involved.
