Last year I purchased an Icon reproduction from a local religious goods store. On the back of the icon is a label that reads:
"This is a copy of an ancient Byzantine Icon. It has been hand produced with the greatest possible fidelity to the original, on paper, wood and gold background. Made in Canada."
I can't find similar icon reproductions anywhere. If anyone has an idea who the maker of these icons is and if there is a catalog available would you please let me know. Maybe on of our Canadian members would know? They're really well done and better quality than most reproductions I've seen. Any help would be appreciated.

Bill, That exact quote appears here: Virgin and Child Gorgoypekoos Icon [ leafletmissal.org] A quick search of the other icons offered thru the site (headquartered in MN) doesn't reveal that they use that same text in describing any of the others. But, they may be able to provide info on the source of the icon. Many years, Neil

I purchased such an icon (the Nativity of Our Lord - really a stellar reproduction) as well from a local shop, which stocks a wide variety of icons. They do mail orders as well. Call them for a catalog. What they stock is more than what they advertise, so calling and talking to the very helpful lady is recommended. Icon and Book Service Tel. 1-800-ask-ikon http://www.iconbook.org/ I unfortunatley have no idea what the ultimate origin of the icons is, though.
