Matt Hasselbeck, Seahawks quarterback, died and was met at the Pearly Gates by God. God gave him a personal tour of heaven which ended at Matt's house for the rest of eternity. It was a shabby, small, rundown bungalow with peeling paint, torn curtains and a faded Seahawks flag hanging outside.

Matt looked down the street and saw a gorgeous, huge mansion, immaculately maintained, completely decorated with Steelers banners, #7 flags and terrible towels.

Matt, a little disappointed said to God. "I know I was not perfect while I lived on earth, but I wasn't that bad of a guy. Why do I have to live in this shack and Big Ben gets that huge mansion?"

God looked at Matt and answered, "That's not Big Ben's house...

...That's MY house!!"

A friend of mine at work says, whenever talk gets too sportsy, "Sports, the opiate of the people."
As a Detroit Tigers fan, who is not overly fond of football, I am not often tempted by this particular opiate, but it is funny, no?

Daniel did you read the link?

eek They insulted pyrohy! eek

"[Senators ]Murray and Cantwell have bet Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum that the Hawks will win. If they're right, the payoff will be a pile of Clara's Pittsburgh Pierogies and hot wings. Pierogies are basically an Eastern Europe type of filled ravioli popular in a gritty Rust Belt city that will remain anonymous.

Murray's office was less than impressed. "It's so lame," spokeswoman Alex Glass said, possibly with pierogi in cheek. "They know they're going to lose so they know better than (to) offer anything good."

Well, Lord knows on the Byzantine Forum that is worse than heresy!
I mean that is right up there with details of liturgical vestments!
If you will excuse the Latinization, mea culpa !

Growing up in Western PA as youth( wink ) during the heyday of the '70's Steelers' four Super Bowl teams, the week leading up to Super Bowl Sunday is very similiar to Great Week preceding Pascha Sunday. Pregame Super Bowl week is very penetenial(lots of kneeling and full prostrations in front of your "Steeler Corner" wink ). No real celebrating and no standing till after Pascha Sunday (in this reference Super Bowl Sunday)!

Go Stillers!

My brother has been a Steelers fan for quite a while now. (Even though we live near St. Louis.) He really liked the above joke. I am also rooting for the Steelers. As a Rams fan and as the brother of a Steelers fan I really want to see the Seahawks get creamed!!! eek

WHAT? PEOPLE OUTSIDE OF COAL-FIELD PA DON'T KNOW WHAT PYROHY ARE?
Seriously, we're raised on Eastern European dishes.
A type of Eastern European ravioli, come on, everyone should know what a pierogy is.
You'ins, yinz, or yunz, or the plural, yunzes out there in Seattle have no idea that the Stillers have secretly been on a strict Pyrohy filled diet all season.

Our oldest son called last night and read an article to us - I know not whether this priest is Roman or Epicopailian or what - anyway, he decided to bless the people with Holy Water using his TERRIBLE TOWEL!

I had to laugh, even though it is sad, but I laughed in way. Sometimes our Good Lord must think we are just plain nuts here. I know he must have a sence of humor though, or we wouldn't.

All the way Steelers LET'S ROLL
LET BIG BEN HAVE HIS WIN IN THE SUPER BOWL!

GO STEELERS!

Oh and William went to buy our new grandbaby Marley a Steelers outfit for the game - all the baby steelers close were gone! Everything was completely sold out. He said that is what he got for waiting so long. Oh my! How funny, I would never thought of people buying outfits for their little ones to wear today.
