Actually, I think this can be a remarkably useful tool for people's spiritual growth. The actual website where people post their confessions is http://www.mysecret.com . The confessions tell readers that they are not alone in their sins, that they are not the only ones who struggle with certain types of sins. Most remarkable, however, is the page on that website where people confess how God SAVED them from their sins. That kind of information tells readers that God -- in Christ Jesus -- can save them too: from their sins and their underlying �secret� causes for their sins. Since we hardly ever hear about sin anymore in our churches --let alone, how to ask Jesus for the grace to overcome them-- this kind of website can be really useful. Here is a very remarkable account of how Jesus Christ saved one woman from her sins and the underlying causes of her sins.
Four years ago I was still doing the same things that didn't work, I just didn't know how to live for God. I kept picking men who were abusive in one way or another and every relationship started with sex. I was afraid to be alone, and I didn't know God well enough to trust Him with my personal life. Finances and children, sure. But my relationship life? No way! Jesus got a hold of me in a ladies meeting and I fell to my knees as His love covered me and took me to His heart. He said, �You aren't going to do this anymore. WE are going to do this together." I had to break up with my boyfriend and send him down the road, because he didn't understand why I couldn't keep having sex with him. He didn't understand that God calls us to be holy as He is Holy. I didn't do it without slips. It took me two years to get to the place of needing only God as the One I go to sleep with every night. But every time I slipped, I found my self confessing to my mentor, and feeling the shame that, being a temple of the Holy Spirit, I had put Jesus through the act of fornication once again. Soon, the grief became more than I could bear, so I pressed in further to my relationship with God, and purposed to not grieve His heart, as I knew I had. I put demands on Him that most people wouldn't think of:� If I have to be alone, then you have to manifest your presence if I even out my thought on you!" He did, He does. Over and again I had to confess my sins of anger and lust to my mentor and God. Over and again she reminded me of how faithful God is and how He wants me to succeed in my life. Since anger was an issue, I knew I had to persevere and become the person I wanted in my life. If I didn't like me, how could someone else? But because God loves me, He persevered with me and still does. He has met me every step of the way. And the places I can't climb, He supernaturally takes me up to. When I don't think I can make it, He pours His peace and presence upon me and the assurance of who He is takes over my thoughts as well as over my physical being. To this day He brings comfort when most people would be sure nothing could comfort, causing me to rejoice in all things, abased or abounding. Is it tough? You bet! But it's worth it. He is worth it. I no longer look at couples like they have something I don�t. I look at them and count them blessed, knowing that I too am blessed and God supplies all my needs.
This is theosis, plain and simple. And, at least somebody is making theosis readily available to others: by preaching the love and mercy of Jesus Christ and the forgiveness and healing which He can give us if we trust Him fully. -- John

That reminds me of a joke!
Two priests were talking together . . .
The elder priest, speaking to the younger priest, said, "I know you were reaching out to the young people when you had bucket seats put in to replace the first four pews. It worked. We got the front of the church filled first."
The young priest nodded and the old one continued, "And, you told me a little more beat to the music would bring young people back to church, so I supported you when you brought in that rock 'n roll gospel choir that packed us to the balcony."
"So," asked the young priest, "what's the problem?"
"Well", said the elder priest, "I'm afraid you've gone too far with the drive-thru confessional."
"But Father," protests the young priest. "My confessions have nearly doubled since I began that!"
"I know, I know, my son, but that flashing neon sign "Toot 'n Tell or Go to Hell" really has to go."
