Pittsburgh, PA - The Parish Family of St. George Ukrainian Catholic Church (3455 California Avenue) in Northside Pittsburgh cordially invites all of you to a Symposium honoring the Servants of God Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky and Patriarch Josyf Slipyj. This year in a very special way we remember these two great hierarchs of the Ukrainian Catholic Church as we commemorate the 60th anniversary of the blessed repose of Metropolitan Andrey and 20th anniversary of the blessed repose of the Confessor of Faith Patriarch Josyf.

The Symposium will be held on Sunday, November 14, 2004. Starting at 3:00 p.m. a Litiya for the Departed-Panikhida will be celebrated at St. Georges Church. The responses will be sung by the choir of St. John Ukrainian Catholic Church in Southside Pittsburgh.

Following the Litiya for the Departed, the Symposium honoring these two great hierarchs will begin in St. Georges Church Hall. The keynote speaker for this event will be Rev. Peter Galadza of the University of St. Paul/Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky Institute of Eastern Christian Studies in Ottawa, Canada. As part of this program the Ukrainian Cultural Trust Choir of Western PA will perform liturgical hymns. The lives of Metropolitan Andrey and Patriarch Josyf will also be presented in an educational display. Light refreshments will follow.

Please join us in this celebration honoring the Servant of God Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky and the Confessor of Faith Patriarch Josyf Slipyj.

In Christ,
Fr. Valerian

I would like to thank the Administrator for putting this on the Byzantine Forum!

Even though this Ukrainian Greek-Catholic (me) has given him much grief in the past and in the present, it is clear the Administrator doesn't hold that against all Ukrainians! smile

God bless you, Sir!

Blessed Andrey and Patriarch Josyp the Confessor, pray for us. I'm sure with Fr. Peter giving the talk it will be fabulous.

I wish I could be there. I bet it will be very nice.
I wonder is Father Galadza would come down to Brazil and visit us. Hmm, I think I have an idea!
