As Christians, how should we feel when we hear about the deaths of two human animals such as the Hussein sons? I'm fighting hard not to feel "happy", knowing that they are probably in hell as I type this. Pray that I would feel sorrow and bring myself to pray for these two individuals.

Yes, there is sorrow but there is also sorrow for the billions who are not Christian in this world. What I'm wondering is, "where is bin Laden?"

This really is a difficult question - I suppose I feel relief that 2 evil men are no more. But there are others like them who are still to be found and if at all possible, they should be brought to trial.

Not easy - and I find it hard not to rejoice at the death of these men

But I am being judgemental and that is not my perogative. Only one Person has the right to judge - and that He most certainly will do - but I will not be privy to His judgement of others, only to His judgement of myself.

We don't know the condition of their souls, and certainly we can pray that they will find mercy.

But we can certainly rejoice that they will no longer be free to commit their evil acts, in this world or any other. No need to feel guilty about that!

I just hope this means that the resistance will end and no more people will be killed. Of course I will also pray that the Hussein brothers had a conversion of heart before their death.

In Christ,

I am sorry to say that the only sorrow i feel is for the two of them. They lived very sad and terrible lives but they made their own decisions and their actions had consequences. They knew what they were doing.I just hope that this brings us one step closer to the peace we are trying to achieve.

The death of any human is cause for sorrow. And so we mourn the passing of any and all who leave this earth.

At the same time, I recall that human beings of the adult persuasion must take responsiblity for their actions. There really cannot be anyone who does not understand that taking the lives of other people is wrong - Christian, Jew or Moslem, no matter. As adults, each of these boys (spoiled as they obviously were) sought whatever they wanted, whether sex or power or money. And apparently no one ever told them that it was wrong, although I still believe that the so-called 'natural law' was operative in their consciences and they did know what they were doing was wrong.

So, as the old prayer goes: "That the Lord open or permanently close the eyes of His servant(s), let us pray to the Lord."

Or, as our Jewish friends have it: "may their names and memories be erased".
Blessings!

Before our souls leave our body we don't know what happens between us and God. Who knows if God presents himself to non-believers as life leaves their bodies? For their sakes I hope so.

Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him. And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear. Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.

May the Lord open the eyes of all tyrants and oppressors - including those of our own Western governments if He deems that we are such as well.

Good posts folks!

Ideally the Hussein brothers should have been captured.

From reports they put up a fight and their use of deadly force must be met with deadly force (self defense and protection of innocent bystanders). So these jackals got what they deserved.

Our military forces are terrific fighters!

Interesting.
Just one note . . . properly speaking, these were not the "Hussein" brothers. Hussein is NOT their family name, nor is it Saddam's family name. around 1980, Saddam outlawed family names in Iraq, dictating that men go by their first name, followed by their father's first name and their grandfather's first name. Hussein was Saddam's father's FIRST name. His sons were called Oday and Qusay "Saddam".

Maybe this is sloppy thinking, but my reaction is "Lord have mercy."

Remember the old T-shirt "philosophy" that said, "Kill 'em all, let God sort them out" ?

I say pray for mercy, and let God choose where to apply it. Certainly these were men who did tremendous evil - but nobody knows the depths of anybody's soul in life, or at the moment of death. Let God sort it out.

Dear Sharon,

This is terribly off topic - BUT -- thinking about your little visit with a certain member in Toronto -

Any chance of posting those photos ?
