No idea what is to become of holy objects.
Its sale is seen as a major fundraiser for the Eparchy.

Selling holy objects is not a good thing. Does your church practice the sell of blessed things?

What happened to the traditional Eastern iconostasis?

It depends on what you mean by selling.

If you mean selling as in "on eBay", no it doesn't.

If you mean to other churches that can make use of the items, yes, it does.

Example: A small parish outside of Scranton was closed last year. My parish purchased the bell that belonged to the parish. We had it removed, cleaned, serviced and then remounted in our parish steeple. We rang it for the first time to call the faithful to Divine Liturgy 2 weeks ago.

This same parish had a beautiful ikonostas that is now in the chapel of the new seminary in Uzhorod.

We almost purchased the ikonostas for our parish but it was too big to fit in our sanctuary.

Hope this helps....

Mea Culpa

My reference to sale was in reference to the property.

It is my hope the holy objects are transferred to our main church.

Not necessarily! The children become the rite of their father, but the woman can choose to stay in her own rite. In fact, when we got married, my Latin Rite hubby chose to become Byzantine! At the marriage, either spouse has the right to change to their partners rite.

Does St. Mary's in Trenton, NJ have an iconostasis yet? Last I knew it did not.

Saint Mary's in Trenton did have an icon-screen. It was ripped out - in 1959. I believe - and replaced by a communion rail.

The right to change ritual church extends throughout the duration of the marriage. A partner who switches can switch back upon the death of a spouse.

However, only the Latin code allows either partner to switch. In the Eastern code, only the wife can automatically switch rites, not the husband.

I dont know if this is accurate-I a RC who married a Byzantine Catholic, and was permitted simply to declare my change of Rite, in a letter signed by two witnesses and my transfer was entered into the parish register. All this was according to directives sent to my pastor, along with an explanation as to why my initial letter requesting change of Rite request was unnecessary.

In Christ,

This doesn't contradict my statemnt. As a RC you were bound by the canons of the Latin church, which, as I said, permits the transfer of either spouse in the marriage.

Sorry if I was less than clear.

The iconostas in Trenton was torn down in the past, but most (if not all) of its icons were preserved by being plastered throughout the church. During the tenure of Fr. Ed Cimbala, the four main iconostas icons that were on the walls around the altar were taken down, cleaned, and mounted in a form of a "temporary" iconostas. If there was a communion rail, it was removed.

The iconostas at the chapel in Robinsville was previously in the Hungarian parish that was in Trenton until a few years ago. After it closed, the iconostas was moved to the chapel.
