I have uploaded 4 photos of the Catholic church of St John the Baptist in Iraklio Crete, on the following website: http://cathcrete.tripod.com/church/ There you can see our beautiful parish (both outside and inside). Let me know what you think.

Armando, you are blessed to have such a very personable Church...my 1956'ish Church has been replaced by one of those modern stadium styles...

Armando, Your parish reminds me of my mom's parish. The deacon there (they have no permanent priest) has built it from about 100 families when he got there in 1998 to over 300 families so far.
I pray that your little parish explodes in numbers and on Christmas people have to stand outside because there is no room like at my mom's church!

Where is the Communion Rail?
Where are the Statues?
Where is the Crucifix? (Non Processional)
Where are the kneelers?
Also, the caption stated that the Tabernacle was in the picture. Is it the gold saw blade looking thing set into the wall? If so, what is the significance of its shape?
When was the Church built?
Who built the Church?
Why did they build the Church?
Is there only one Altar? (Do you know who's relics are in the Altar stone?)

"Where is the Communion Rail? Where are the Statues? Where is the Crucifix? (Non Processional)"
None of the above are required appointments in a Latin Church. The Processional Cross may serve as the Altar Cross
"Where are the kneelers?" I assume attached to the pews. They are visible from the altar view. The chairs look to be only in the isle.
"If so, what is the significance of its shape?" That would be a sun-burst, a very common design for monstrances and on tabernacle doors.

The Church has all that is required by the Latin Rite. It is one of a handful of Churches run by the Franciscans on the island for the tiny Catholic population. During the holiday season the Church is packed with foreigners. More details are available on the internet.
