Happy and blessed Pascha to my Orthodox brothers and sisters and my brothers and sisters of the Eastern and Oriental Catholic Churches who will celebrate Pascha today.

Have you ever heard 'Christ is Risen' in Swahili?

Our visiting assistant pastor for Holy Week was from Africa and Father let him say parts of the services in his native tongue, and he also said the 'Christ is Risen' a few times in Swahili.

Ofcourse, no one knew the refrain in his language, but our Presvytera graciously learned it so that she was the sole respondent. wink

Anhelyna: thanks for the good wishes for this day, but it is always a day when I am in something of a fog, whether I am the one entertaining or the one being entertained....I am just not used to going to bed at 3:30 in the morning! (DL until about two, and then we have a meal in the community hall to break the fast, and then factor in some driving time home....) Ofcourse, as for my nocturnally inclined young adult children, if these DL hours were the norm, they would probably NEVER miss church!

Alice,

I have to admit I really do not know how you all cope with the hours of Great and Holy Week and Pascha.

I used to think our Schedule in the RC Church was heavy enough - I know I was always shattered by Easter Day - but having seen a Schedule for one church I was left with my mouth hanging open - we just do not appreciate how long and many are the Eastern Services.

One of these days I pray and hope I will be able to join in them - till then I just try and share your joy today , and can only repeat the message that arrived to me today from Fr Mark

Khristos voskrese! Christ is Risen!

Greetings on the bright and radiant feast of the Lord's Pascha.

With love in Christ -

Mark, monk and sinner

Oh, that miraculous, glorious night that is brighter than the day! Christ is Truly Risen! Let us embrace one another, let us call each other brothers, and in the Resurrection let us forgive all things!

Bill,

Thanks for the link and thank you, Dave (our own Chtec, for those who are unaware smile ).

Will have to bookmark this alongside my multilingual Christmas greetings. I see that the Swahili text is already posted.

Many years,

Neil
