hey Hesychios, Actually, Myrna zazzour, the stigmatist i talked about before, also has an icon that weeps oil. Anyway, We also have a statue of the virgin mary (our lady of beshwat, lebanon) that turned real. I don't know the exact story but it happened a year ago. A lot of people also saw this miracle, however, the first to see this miracle was a muslim boy, who was actually a tourist from jordan, then he called the others and everybody started seeing the statue turn real and move. Some people also took videos! Cheers

Dear Dn. Robert you said: Several years ago, an OCA priest-friend commented to me, sort of "tongue-in-cheek" that "when the Blessed Mother appears to Catholics, there are messages. When she appears to Orthodox, she just cries". I say: As an Orthodox I found that so funny. Goes to show the state of our Church. Zenovia

Some people also took videos! I say: I believe Mother Angelika who started and founded EWTN, saw a statue of the child Jesus. He told her he wanted her to build a Church...and she did! A gorgeous cathedral, which as of yet, has very few parishioners. But I can only imagine the amount of people it will have in the future. Surely Mother Angelika is a saint. Zenovia

Zenovia,
EWTN or OLAM are not considered a Church by the diocese. They are not allowed to be of or have 'parishioners' as such.
There are many loacals who go there on a regular basis. Actually, more of them go to the 11AM Mass at EWTN than to the 7AM. There is a lot more teaching involved in the homilies at the 11AM Mass.
The area where Our Lady of the Angels Monastery is, is a rather distant place. It is a good 45 minutes to an hour from Birmingham. Many people have built homes out there, but it is really not that populated yet. It is also about an hour from Huntsville which is a good size area because of the space industry. There is a good crowd that come from there to participate in OLAM too.
Also, there is a Benedictine Monastery in Cullman, not too far from where Mother is, it has a pretty good attendance to. It is a private shool with resident students, with a pretty good population.
Hope that helps. Pani Rose

The "Church" that Mother Angelica and her Nuns built within their monastery's grounds is a "Shrine," that is, it is not considered a parish Church in the normal sense but a pilgrimage destination open to all faiths. It is called the "Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament," which was built in honor of the Child Jesus (as Mother Angelica's gesture to a "vision" she received from the Child Jesus ("Build Me a Temple and I will help those who help you!") when visiting Colombia to build Spanish-language EWTN branches in South America). The name of the "Shrine" is also tied up to Mother Angelica's monastery of the "Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration." (Each Nun is assigned an hour of adoration before the Blessed Sacrament to complete the 24 hours of a day, thus "perpetual adoration.") The entire Shrine was built on donations of unnamed private families and individuals. Rest of story: http://www.olamshrine.com/olam/shrine_about.htm Amado
