Just curious, why not use the lance, which is called for in the sluzhebnik? They make them with a knife quality blade that can be sharpened.

Father displays the lance and has shown me in private how he uses it. Apparently he uses both. However, not being a deacon or a priest I don't know for certain.

Concerning Cutco knives. They are very sharp. We use them all of the time and with rare exception never need to be sharpened.

It is interesting and encouraging to learn that Dan never needs to be sharpened. I wish I could say the same for myself.
