Hello all,

Christos Voskrese!

My older daughter is going to Orlando, FL on Thursday with her High School orchestra. Does anyone know of any Catholic church nearby that she may attend nearby? I am not familiar with the Disney World or Orlando areas, I can't find a street address for Disney World, so using the search engines for maps and info from www.masstimes.org [masstimes.org] isn't working for me. I've told her I expect her to find a liturgy to attend on Sunday while she's there. Any info would help.

Thanks,

Rick Cooley

There used to be a Mass offered at DisneyWorld itself. That was a good 10 years ago, but you might check with DisneyWorld to see if they still schedule it.

They do not offer Mass at WDW any more. Being politically correct won out unfortunately.

I don't know what transportation your daughter will have available. If she is staying within the WDW resort and must rely on their transportation she is out of luck.

If staying "off property" as the Disney folks say, the Shrine to Mary, Queen of the Universal is a Roman Catholic Church just a few miles from the Downtown Disney/Crossroads area off of route 535. It is visible from I-4.

The local Byzantine Catholic Church is St. Nicholas on Sandlake Road. This parish is just a few miles from most International Drive hotels. A link to their website is available from the directory portion of this site.

Hope this helps,
Larry - sinner, Byzantine Catholic, and Disney Dweeb

Dear Rick C:

In addition to the above, there are at least 14 Catholic Churches (Latin) within Orlando proper and another Eastern Catholic Church, St. Jude Maronite Catholic Church at 5555 Dr. Phillips, Blvd., Tel: 407.363.7405.

Please go to http://www.orlandodiocese.org and point to "Diocese" and click "Parishes."

The individual Latin Chancery might know where other Eastern Catholic Churches are located within Orlando, if there be any aside from the 2 LarryL and I have thus far mentioned.

Amado
