Dear friends,

I was wondering if anyone else happens to have a copy of the book that I consider one of my greatest material treasures (along with my ikons and my prayerbook). It is an Izbornik' published in L'vov in 1903 under the direction and with the approval of Metropolitan +Andrey (Sheptitskiy). It has a dark cover with a tri-bar cross on the front in gold stamping, and on the side is the title, IZBORNIK'. It is written throughout in Old Church Slavonic using Cyrillic script (old orthography). I was just looking through it last night...and thinking...or daydreaming about the faith-filled immigrant who must have clutched it tightly as they traveled across the wide ocean to the shores of a new land of promise. I often wonder who they were, but I doubt that I will ever know. Still, I am very thankful to them, and pray for them, whoever they are. I found it at a used-and-rare bookshop in Hummelstown, PA (outside of Harrisburg, PA) that has since closed down. As the owner had no knowledge specifically of it, I didn't even know what it was until I learned to read Church Slavonic enough to understand it.

In Christ,

Timothy, servant of God
