Dearly beloved in Christ,

Christ is born !

Can someone please tell me what calendar I'm on? My new chuch envelopes have Pascha on May 1, 2005. Did I miss some kind of announcement?

Am I on the right calendar? And which calendar might that be? Am I on the right planet? I'm third rock from the sun, church militant, in case anybody is interested.

Are you implying that Pittsburgh - The Holy City - has a split personality, or maybe an identity crisis? Inquiring minds want to know. wink

Thanks for the tip, I better check my envelopes for 2005. You never know what will pop up in the
new de-Slavitised, Helenized Metropolitan calendar!

Joe,

Didnt you know about the announcement?

Effective January 1st all Byzantine Catholic parishes return to the Julian Calendar. This means that Pascha will not be on March 27th with the Roman Catholics and the West but on May 1st with the rest of Orthodoxy.

Sunday, January 2nd is the Sunday Before Christmas the Holy Forefathers.

Christmas the Feast of the Nativity of Our Lord, God and Savior, Jesus Christ, is coming quickly on Friday, January 7th. Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? :p

Glory to God! Let all the bells of the Holy Mountain ring out for joy! Everyone is invited to my place Christmas night (this coming Friday evening) for a spiritous glass and some spirited singing to celebrate. BYOB!

Seriously . . .

Does this mean Julian or Revised Julian calendar?

I wondered since the Greek Churches have been on Revised Julian since the mid 1920s and many Churches of Slav origin in the Western world use it as well.

Dear Incognitus:

Thank you for the gracious invitation, but I have to be home that night.

However, I will be with you in spirit and in the spirits as in BYOB.

Incognitus,

I can be there, if you pick me up at the airport. I'll be the one carrying the gift-wrapped paper bag biggrin and the bottle of Arak.

Many years,

Neil
