Starting soon.....

Per the blessings of Father Tom Loya, I'm staring up a company (I guess that's what you would call it) called Pilgrim Arts.

Just starting eastern artists usually have a problem, getting stuff do to for people. In my one year of iconography I have been blessed by many people who haved asked me to do icons for them. But then I ran into other young artists who were not getting commissions (which is a huge blessing), my sister Anna, who is a fantastic pysanki artist, and Margaret Chione, who is a better iconographer than I am, as well as Theresa Plishka. No one asks them for work, because nobody knows about them. What a shame, I thought. People far more deserving than me are not getting at least the same coverage.

Here's the idea in a nutshell: Get young eastern Christian artists who are willing up on the internet and show off their work, and give people the oppurtunity to order from them. There would be digital pictures of their previous works, along with an email address. The customer would not have to pay for the actual product itself, being made by a beginner and all, but would have to pay for shipping and handling, as well as a small fee for the rare materials used in the making of the product.

At the moment there are two artists signed on for the project officially: Myself (iconography) and my sister Anna (pysanki). I'm posting this up on the byzcath board for two reasons: 1) Please pray that this gets off the ground for the right reasons and 2)Please spread the word to people who would apply to what I've posted! I'm looking for the following peoplef:

Beginning iconographers of ANY style
Beginning pysanki artist of ANY style

If there are any other eastern arts please let me know so that way I can expand the list. For the people who are interested, please email me at upstart_arts@yahoo.com. Please include your name, where you're from, and up to three digital scans of your work. Acceptance is based on the decision of all the artists already in. Don't get panicky, however, we're a nice bunch, and we'd need a serious reason to reject anybody.

There is no website, yet. I'm looking to have one up by the end or start of this week or next week.
