The moderators are doing their level best, but for some reason we still seem to be going through one of those periodic upheavals of irritability, anti-RC comments, and just general snarkiness which pop up in every Internet forum from time to time. So I've decided to sign off from the Forum for a week or two (or three or four) till things get back to "normal", whatever that may be. Don't worry, you can't keep the Theist Gal away forever (no matter how hard you try, nyuk nyuk!), so enjoy the silence while it lasts! (and everyone have a great summer!)

Dear Dolly, I'm sorry about the anti-RC comments! You know that I hate it when people pick on the Azymites! Perhaps you could use the time away from the Forum to learn how to make the Sign of the Cross properly? Seriously, though, EC's, (and I have to think about whether recent converts are fully "EC" in the true sense of the term ), show great insecurity when they feel they must attack the Latin Church. It's like when I'm attacked for saying the Rosary is a legitimate Eastern devotion. I even discarded this devotion under this influence but later returned to it (with a vengeance) when I learned about how St Seraphim of Sarov and the Russians use it! And also how an Orthodox saint said that the Rosary/Rule of the Theotokos is even more important than other Eastern prayers to implore the protection and help of the Mother of God. You and other RC's here should know that EC's have a lot of internal problems and tensions over Rite and traditions - which is probably a source of anti-RCism. EC's are often really screwed up, in fact. My ECism and Orthodoxy is that of the Kyivan Baroque that studied the West and adopted devotional practices that it learned to esteem. And this is why I do think that "Orthodox in communion with Rome" is simply an ideology used by those who live a life other than what most of our parishes are connected to. So you anti-RCers want to take me on, I'm here! Take care Dolly, and see you back here soon! Alex

Dear Dolly: So, you are taking a Roman-esque sabbatical? Good for you! Me? Who would be left to assist Alex to thwart or to parry these anti-RC brickbats? Amado

Dolly, I take breaks every so often too for usually the same reasons you state. I just sort of let the Holy Spirit cut and paste me somewhere else, but I don't usually announce it. However, I am always drawn to come back, so enjoy your time away and we will look forward to your return. Breaks are good! In Christ, Mary Jo

Dear Theist Gal, Have a nice break - and don't forget to let us all know when you find a Theist Guy. Meanwhile, may you find some delicious chocolate.

Thank you, everybody! And incognitus - nice idea about the Theist Guy, but if Alex isn't available, I may just have to stay single ...
