Y'all check out Mrs. H. with some of her Slovak dance team. By chance are they your daughters. So cute.

I truly love all the pictures, it is so neat to see so many face to face - if only by telephone wire biggrin

Alone!!! you dont know what alone is until you have visited downunder and travelled for days through country where very few live. Where there are more people on the road than by the side of the road. How can you be alone in that wonderful California. Anyway through the wonders of this site we all are only a key stroke away from each other. cool If I want to go to my Byzantine parish church I have a 1.5 hr flight in a Fokker 50 (my parish of St John the Baptist UGCC is 1 Million Sq miles in size). The PP is planning a trip to my area. 600 Kms east then 400 kms south from there all by road. Then he has to go back the same way.

Pavel, sounds like it might have its advantages to living in bfe...
No crass neighbours or people getting arrested for selling herion at the end of your street. No 6,7,9 yr old kids riding motorcylces on your street and getting chased by the police...
No factory with loud trucks 200 metres from your house....
ok.. I have to go to canada for that kinda isolation.

Hey maybe that is an idea Pavel
If I want to go to my Byzantine parish church I have a 1.5 hr flight in a Fokker 50 (my parish of St John the Baptist UGCC is 1 Million Sq miles in size). The PP is planning a trip to my area. 600 Kms east then 400 kms south from there all by road. Then he has to go back the same way.

We can do another Frappr Map and physically place the location of the Catholic and Orthodox Parishes we attend. We could also work on placing the others on the map. That way when someone asks if there is a parish nearby, we will have a handy reference. Easy to see and know the approximate location.

What do you all think? It could be a very useful tool.

Paňi Rose...
I don't know let's get more people on the first map. You could add your parish to your profile on frappr. Orthodox Church locator [orthodoxyinamerica.com] is found on this link. If you are looking for a sui juris Catholic Church you could check out the main byzcath.com page.

I have upgraded for some additional markers. So now there is yellow, green, and white which could be used for East Catholic, West Catholic and Orthodox on the list. Or maybe we can just do a new map.

Well, I guess it's just that it seems harder for me. I think I'm the only one near my age group that is joining the Byzantine rite. I know Edward of course who is Byzantine, but seeing as I can only chat with him online, and IRL he's thousands of miles away, it makes it harder.

I'm making some good friends here in California (I've been here just over 1 year), but I just wish I had some friends who belonged to the faith and who could encourage me. As great as it is having access to wonderful people online, it's nicer when there's someone encouraging you face to face.

Yeah, lurker, I'm not sure. I went in and added some for Pani but methinks it is only for new users and existing users can't modify it.
I'm going to make a new map later on tonight.
People with existing accounts should be able then to subscribe to that group (which will be this group, but just a different map). Then on the different map we can put down our parishes.
Anyway, I've got some non-computer work to do and I'll get back here later.
