It occurred to me that many might be interested in finding out which services various parishes are having during Holy Week. If you reply with your list, please be sure to include which jurisdiction your parish is a part of. It will make it easier for people to understand how you come to have the services you will have.

My own parish in Gilbert (Ruthenian, Byzantine Catholic, Van Nuys eparchy) is planning:

Holy Monday & Tuesday: Bridegroom Matins
Holy Wednesday: Presanctified Liturgy with Anointing
Holy Thursday: Vespers & Liturgy of St. Basil the Great
Good Friday: Strasti Matins (12 Gospels);
Solemn Vespers
Holy Saturday: Vespers & Divine Liturgy of St. Basil
Pascha: Resurrection Matins & Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom

Dear Jim,
At Annunciacion of the Mother of God in Homer Glen IL we do not have services on Monday-Wednesday. We have All of the services you have listed with the addition of Royal Hours on Good Friday (around noon) and Jerusalem Matins on Saturday morning. I like to call it an "Action Packed" Weekend.

Our schedule looks very much like Cantor Jim's parish with the exceptions that we don't have Bridegroom Matins on Tuesday and Resurrection Matins and Liturgy occur Great Saturday evening.

And we are in the Eparchy of Passiac, no less!

Add Liturgies on Bright Monday and Bright Tuesday and a Liturgy after First Confessions on Lazarus Saturday, and you get a very busy couple of weeks. The best part of the entire year!

Too bad there are only 4 posters so far who are sharing information about what their parishes are planning to do during Holy Week. I hope more folks will find this sharing to be enlightening and educational.

Jim,

Most I think are just getting their paschal schedules. I know that I just sent out our schedules this week. We are going to be doing all the services from Lazarus Saturday to Paschal Agape Vespers including the Bridegroom Services and a Presanctified Liturgy on Holy Wednesday morning. The only service we will not be doing is Royal Hours on Holy Friday morning. The reason why is that the ladies are decorating the tomb, and the racket they make is quite disturbing to the fostering of any prayer.

Father Anthony+

Now, now, Father...you can't have it all! smile

As one who has been one of those women who donates her free time to decorate the tomb-- albeit in a different parish from yours--I have to remind you that you can't realistically expect so many women, brought together to do a task that takes a few hours, to take a vow of silence -- now can you?!? (hehehe) biggrin wink biggrin
