Did I get lost again ? This thread went from a secret meeting, to the filioque, to potato pirohi!

Scotty, beam me up!

Joe Prokopchak
It always comes back to the pirohi.

Hang on everyone! I have a good feeling that we will make the loop and arrive back at the secret meeting topic. We won't have to pass the Filioque issue or pay $200. Who's turn to roll?

100 pierogies and one round of cod-fish stew. The next 'chance' card has everything on the secret meeting.

Speaking of games: My son was thrilled the other day when his Byzantine Army defeated Charlemagne playing Age of Empires. He yelled, "The original Creed wins!" God love him.

My son was equally triumphant when his Byzantine Army defeated the Turks. The naphtha (Greek Fire) is quite a weapon

But that game still doesn't match up to "Cossacks". Nothing like the Hetmen riding against the Tartars. wink

LT dicit:

"Si vis mecum loqui, possumus ista lingua uti. Non autem placebit Administratoribus neque OE neque J Thur neque aliis amicis nostris, quia linguam nostram sacram jam dudum odissent."

Non possumus lingua latina uti; quia non lingua latina sacram linguam administratori neque OE neque J thuri est.

Non placebent! biggrin

So, English as a comprmise?

Steve

i remember a great incident at Vatican II when Cardinal Spellman proposed at one of the sessions dealing with Liturgical Reform that Clerics should be permitted to recite the Divine Office in the Vernacular but that the Mass should continue to be completely in Latin. Some of the Italian bishops shot back "Ah Questi Americani!!!!!!!! They want the people to pray in Latin and the priests to pray in ENglish!!!!!!!!!:

Dear Brian,

Sometimes, and especially when I hear things like that, Orthodoxy looks better and better to me.

How about you? wink
