Here's an idea. Let's get this thread back on its intended track by speculating:

1) Where His Grace ____ was during this meeting.

2) If he was there -- why? Is he some kind of dissenter leading us down the primrose path that only ends in AmChurch? And does he have a "Roman Catholic of the Eastern Rite" inferiority complex that he thinks he needs to do whatever the Latins are doing?

3) If he wasn't there -- why not? Doesn't he care about sexual abuse? After all, it's not just for the Latins anymore!

4) If there's anything we need, it's more transparency and more intrigue.

Discuss!

LR,

I can't speculate about secret meetings on an empty stomach, especially if those meetings are secret. Do you like apricot pierogies, or do you like pierogies with apricots in them?

Johan promised us at least 500 potato ones. Make sure you wear your black t-shirt and shades for our own secret meeting. Maybe then tomorrow we can post everything we don't know.

Joe

AmCath: American Catholic Church, a hypothetical schismatic church...

Sigh. I suppose it is too much to hope this would be a century without a major schism?

LT,

The Filioque is not heretical. The innovation was its insertion into the Creed professed at the Divine Liturgy or Mass. The heresy-hunting and polemics came later.

i am reminded of an incident recorded in Father Basil Pennington's (Trappist) journal of his retreat on Mt Athos ("O Holy Mountain") , an old Athonite monk encounters Father Basil and tells him "the Catholics are often better Christians then us Orthodox, very pious but....... and the monk made the Sign of the Cross for emphasis "the Holy Spirit STILL proceeds from the Father alone!!!!" smile The Faith of those monks is unshakable!

Joe, you are too generous. 1,000 pierogies iisn't enough. I won't settle for anything less than 500 holubtsi and 100 1-ft kobasi on top of the pierogies and beer. Then, we can talk. Oh, and 1/2 of those pierogies need to be kapusta and 1/4 prune or apricot. NOT ALL POTATO!

Until then, where were we on this Filioque issue???

"Roma locuta, causa finita est." (I think I have that right.) However, I much prefer, "Lex orandi, lex credendi est."
