Glory to Jesus Christ:

Last January, on the bus to Washington for the pro life march, I was inspired by the teens of our parish. Without adult supervision or prompting they prayed the Akathist to Hymn to the Mother of God. This was a beautiful witness to the deep faith of these young people. We were a minority on the buss most of the passengers were Roman Catholic, but these kids wanted to share the depth and beauty of Byzantine spirituality. In a way, it was like they were saying, this is who we are. These teens are proud of their faith, and Im proud of them.

The youth of our Church is one of our greatest assets. We must do everything in our power to cultivate their vibrant and loving faith. We must lead a good example by supporting our clergy and knowing and growing in our faith. Also we must have the humility to admit that we can learn by the example of our younger brothers and sisters in Christ. It is plain to see that our Byzantine spirituality speaks to every age.

God Bless
Pete
