Glory to Jesus Christ!

This is to announce that, at the urging of Fr. Tom Loya, we now have a website [byzantineevangelization.com] for the August 6 Mission, Vision and Evangelization Forum in Whiting, IN.

To register, submit ideas for the forum (even if you cannot attend), get maps, etc., visit ByzantineEvangelization.com [byzantineevangelization.com] .

See you there!

Eric, I suggest an Evangelism and Mission home page with this meeting as part of it. I sincerely hope it all won't end August 6th. It would be good to have some follow-up material and opportunities for participation of those of us celebrating the great holy Feast of the Transfiguration in our parishes who can't attend.

Right on. That's why we picked the domain name "ByzantineEvangelization.com" rather than something more specific to this meeting.

I suppose it has a double meaning, really -- (1) Evangelizing within the Byzantine Church to restore and renew her and (2) Evangelizing the world in a distinctly Byzantine way. At the same time, these are really one and the same process. A thriving Byzantine parish is a vortex of the Holy Spirit.

Eric,

Beautiful. Is there are a way to get a count of those who are registered. It would be helpful for our planning.

The registrations go to the "parma.evangelization" address that has been posted on this forum and printed in the bulletin announcements. I e-mailed that address to see who's at the other end two days ago, but have not received a reply. So I don't know anything about what's going on at that end.

However, I programmed the form so that I get copies too, so that as webmaster I can monitor the form usage and correct any problems. That means that I can give you a count of all registrations that have come by way of the website.

However, I do not know the number of people who had already registered up until then, nor those who might register now via the e-mail address directly (rather than through the site) or by phone.

Does anyone know what human being is at the other end of "parma.evangelization@comcast.net"?

Eric,

I do not know the answer to your question but I'm thankful that you have programed the website as you mentioned. Perhaps one idea that may come out on Aug. 6 is that Parma reads and responds to its email. A volunteer in Cleveland could handle that if no one is there now who can do it, I should think.

I recall that Bishop John expressed concern that few priests or parishes actually respond to episcopal initiative. I think some plans in that area may well come out of the meeting on August 6 at Whiting.

Eric,

I note that not everyone who said that they were definitely coming have registered thus far. Perhaps if this is bumped up it will jar some memories.

Also, I'm still troubled by Bishop John's comment that few priests actually respond to his initiatives. One wouldn't see such disdain for a bishop's initiative in the RC Church and one certainly didn't see such disdain in the UMC. Perhaps we are more laid back. That's not bad in itself, but ignoring a bishop's request seems disrepectful to me.

Well, maybe some more registrations will come in soon.

Please, please, please...register before you come. We are providing lunch and there is only a short time alotted for it. Not enough to wander around in a strange town to look for a restaurant.

I am working on my ideas. I will post them here and the website.

THANKS FOR THE WEBSITE!

BTW, a location that has internet access should be used. I think an online meeting would workout great! We use to do it every week on the Melbourne Linux Users Group:
http://www.mlinux.org/icecast/

We had meetings from people all over the world talking online with us.

Ray,

I very much like your ideas about internet communications and ByzTv. I'm certain these ideas will get a serious hearing the meeting on Aug. 6. Remember, we are just the beginning. From this meeting will come groups to carry out the ministries and we will, no doubt, carry this type of meeting to other eparchies.

If we saw our group in action together I suspect you would have much hope for the future. Keep us in your prayers.

Dan L
