Archpriest Robert Anderson has a good general guide at the St. Irenaeus web site: http://stirenaeus.net/docs/evan_quik_notes_1.htm Has anyone considered larger Greek Catholic unity and cooperation in these endeavors? Fr. Robert has worked for several years in this realm and the St. Ireneaus site is a good example of what can be done. After all, aren't we "one" holy, Catholic and apostolic?

Diak -
What a great site! I visited this a few months back, but nothing was on it.
Now it is a virtual plethora (to quote the Three Amigos) of articles and resources!
Does this society exist canonically as a public association of the faithful?
Just curious...
Peace -

Glory to Jesus Christ! Fr. Bob has been informed of your question concerning SIMS' official status. I'm not sure if he is registered on byz forum, but in any event I'm sure he will respond to your questions.
We have a great web-master as well, who along with others updates the site and adds new stuff rather frequently. the publican

Diak wrote: Has anyone considered larger Greek Catholic unity and cooperation in these endeavors? Well, yes. Byzcath.org was created to be an evangelical site for all of the Byzantine Catholic Churches. Back in 1996 when the site went online I actually had listings on the home page for every single Byzantine Eparchy (Melkite, Romanian, Ruthenian and Ukrainian as well as a blurb about the Russian and Italo-Greek Catholics). My hope was to develop a Byzantine supersite much the same way that ewtn.com has become a supersite for Roman Catholics. I went so far as to contact each eparchy and request information from them as well as someone to work with. The silence was so deafening that I moved the information to the Other Byzantine Catholics page and left only the Ruthenians listed on the homepage (because they were the only people providing me with information). Everyone seems to want to do his or her own thing. There is no vision of unity. Hopefully this is now changing. I still hope that others will someday be willing to contribute. I would happily implement a redesign that presents all of the Byzantine Catholic Churches on an equal basis. This site is currently getting 5,000 unique visitors to the homepage each day. With another 7,000 unique visitors to this Forum. This is an audience coming to us that we really should not continue to ignore.

John,
I pray that this information will be taken by the Ukie's and Melkites etc. who do visit this site as well as the our Orthodox brothers and sisters not in communion with Rome and they will all send you the needed information.

In response to the Administrators post, I think all of the churches Roman Catholic, Ukranian Cathoilc, Byzantine Catholic, etc. are organized separately. For example the Diocese of Scranton (R.C.) have nothing to do with the Ukranian Catholic and Byzanitine Catholics.
I looked at Byzantine Catholic directories and I could not understand why Ukranine Catholic churches were not in the listings.
Eventually with research I figured out that the Byzantines are in one Eparchy and the Ukranians in another Eparchy.
Although the R.C. and Byzantine and Ukranian are all Catholic and under the Holy Father, the organizational structures are different.
I did understand that the Orthodox, were there own church and not under the Pope, but thier churches and traditions look like the other Eastern Rite churches.

The website is precisely the opposite. It is an opportunity to speak and learn about Eastern Christianity that is union with the bishop of Rome. For people like me, who are not Eastern Rite, that is a huge gift. Thank you.

Dear Administrator,
I offer my thanks and gratitude for your labors. You are doing exactly what the Holy Father has called on all of us to do - evangelize. This is my favorite Catholic website. God works in mysterious ways, and in his own time. He is working through you and all who contribute here.
